I used this book as a first grader in the 1970s, and was thrilled to find a copy to use with my children. I love the pages with 100 words categorized under individual phonetic rules. This allows work on problem sounds when teaching reading, and it allows a clear idea of progress as the child works through the book. There are periodic review pages to make sure nothing is forgotten. The scale of reading speeds is fun for the kids to look up each time to see their advancement. The book has no graphics, but my kids and I all enjoyed using it.
