JW left Boston for the more tranquil pleasures of Martha's Vineyard but thugs from his past as a Boston cop follow him. He knows that he has to face the past and stem the troubles before his new life on the island is ruined.
J.W. is away from home when a couple of thugs come looking for his ex-wife's husband. Zee has never heard of him, and when they started beating her and threatening her daugher, she shoot them. J.W., of course, can't let it go and starts trying to figure out why, how, etc. The setting is not emphasised as much as usual, but it's still an entertaining read.
