Its time to choose the book we are reading for April.  Please put any suggestions you may have in this thread.

Thanks

Jen

A Spring book? Too bad we already did a Spencer, or we could do Spring Fancy. Though I didn't like it much. Um, what are we reading for March?  What genre is up?

Oh right, it's Lady of Conquest. Bodices will be ripped! Okay, so April should be a contemp or paranormal.

I don't read paranormals so I would like to try that genre...

They have the disadvantage of often being heavily wishlisted, but maybe we can find something available. Any stories about werewolves who change during Spring? ;-)

Maybe something with an heroine named April?  I can't think of any off hand. I still haven't read A Lady of Conquest and I'm the one that suggested it!

I want to make commetns on about Pink Carnation but I read it like 2yrs ago and don't really remember enough to say anything mroe than "I liked it".

April Lady by Georgette Heyer. I read this and didnt like it but I'm not a heyer fan anyway.

Betty Neels has at least 2 titles with April in the title.

April Lady is a good suggestion. Because I already own it. :-) Would not go out of my way or spend a credit to get Betty Neels, I confess. But I bet there are lots of people who'd been planning to try some Heyer...?

I don't care for Georgette Heyer myself. But then I never seem to read the monthly book in time to really participate anyway.  Even now I'm only in 1 game but I'm doing the Serial Readers II challenge and don't know if I'll read the March book.

I looked up books containing "April" at AAR, but only came up with one, oddly enough, an anthology called April Moon. "Spring" brought up quite a few - Scandal in Spring by Lisa Kleypas is the only one I recognize.

Isn't Scandal in Spring the middle of a series?

It's the last of four, so yeah, probably not the best choice.

I like the idea of doing a paranormal, too. One other problem with those are that most are series books as well.

I'll throw out the only non-series paranormal I have on my own TBR: The Scarletti Curse by Christine Feehan. There are 7 copies currently in the system.

It doesn't really fit in with a spring theme, unfortunately, lol.

ETA: On a closer look, I'm not even sure if this is a paranormal. More gothic. I thought it was about a vampire when I bought it. Oh well, lol.

What about Susannah's Garden by Debbie Macomber?  The title sounds kind of spring - y and I have it my TBR pile.  ;)

Not sure if I'm joining in but when I saw you were thinking of a Spring book, I immediately thought of:

Come Spring by Jill Marie Landis

I read this one years ago so don't remember much about it. I used to like most of her stuff tho. It's not paranormal--I just read the paranormal-romance Nicki Styxx series by Terri Garey and loved it. Hot and creepy and kinda cozy too! :) But it's a WL'ed series.

That is a good suggestion.  What do the rest of you think?  Should we read Come Spring?

Hi Everyone, since no one has participated in the last two months discussion, I am going to take a break for April.

Let me know if you are interested in starting it up again.

Sorry.  I was ready to bite the bullet for the book discussion cause & participate in the March book discussion, but I tried, and once again epic failed, to read Lady of Conquest:P

I know, I've been so caught up in reading for swaps that I never got around to the book club books the past few months. If you want to take a break, that's fine, and once things slow down maybe we can try it again. It was fun!

I thought it was fun too.  :)  Maybe we can pick up again in the summer when we all have more time to read.  :D
