The following is an excerpt from the back cover of the book:

"Marches and murderers, Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcomn X, JFK and LBJ...from the bus boycott in Montgomery to busing in Boston, from the marches on Selma to the riots in Miami, Voices of Freedom illuminates the long, impassioned, sometimes painful and sometimes joyful struggle for a truly democratic society that continues today."

Takes one back to the day when drinking fountains were signed "white" and "colored." Not always comfortable, easy reading, but worthwhile, especially for those who did not live through Brown v. Board of Education and the years following in "real time."
