Few people write WW II naval fiction as well as Reeman. Especially when it deals with small gunboats, as this one does. This is because Reeman served in those boats during WW II himself.

Be aware not all of his stories end with all the good guys and gals "living happily ever after." People die in a war and Reeman was very aware of that.

This book includes a large cast of characters---men and women from different sides, different backgrounds---all fighting a war. Not everything they do or what happens to them is nice.
