Max is a tidy twnty-seven, an up and coming advertising man and devastated widower. celibate since his wife's tragic death, striving for order and reason in his uptight world. Max suddenly and shockingly finds himself careening into a torrid affair with a woman from the other side of the tracks. ....a lusty, hard-drinking passioate forty-one year old white palace waitress named Nora. This is the story of how their back breaking one night stand turns, quite remarkably into an amazing kind of love.

It's basically the same as the movie with a slightly different ending. I liked the book Nora better than the movie Nora but that's Hollywood for you.
