I had a WL book offered on the 27th. The next day she said she couldn't mail it because she couldn't find it. So...I went back to #1 on the list. The SAME person posted the book again yesterday. Got a notice just now that she couldn't mail it because she has not read it yet. So...I went back to #1 on the WL. I know I'll get the book soon but I would rather not get it from her. Any remedies for this? Update: The SAME person posted the book again on 6/10. This time it was accepted by her. The next day (today) she cancelled - reason: "sorry it was ready to go today". I don't even know what that means. I finally contacted TPTB. This book has been on my wishlist for a little over a year - I really want to read it.

Something I've done before is put the book on hold for a while to make sure the same person doesn't offer it to me again. Because that has happened to me (with no explanation actually) and it is really annoying! |

Depends on how often the book is offered to someone. Would I put on hold a WL book that is rarely offered because the person who seems to be offering it now is a flake? No. If it is a fast moving book, then, maybe, I guess. But mostly I don't care who sends me a book as long as it's postable. If she offers it to you again, send her a very polite PM to her and explain that she should only post the book if she is actually going to mail it, as no other copies of the book can be offered to you during the time you have requested it from her and are waiting for her to mail it. Sometimes people just don't know, or perhaps haven't fully thought through what happens in certain situations, so she may have no idea that she is taking you out of the line and wasting your time by posting this book that she isn't ready to mail. In these cases, a polite note letting someone know how the system works may help that member become a better member for everyone else, too. Hopefully, it will take her long enough to read it that you'll get it from someone else in the meantime. I once had the same person offer me a WL book 3 times and let it time out each time. I have no idea what was up with that. I finally got it from someone else. |

I'll just let it play out and see what happens. With over 400 in the TBR pile, I really don't need the book right now.

It's possible that she's posting it by mistake. Seems like it would be hard to do but if she hasn't really read up on how the bookshelf and WL work and doesn't hang out here. She might not have realized that the book was WL and would immediately be offered to someone. Not everyone reads the rules or figures the site out before they join. Then they do goofy things that could have been avoided if they'd just done some research before using the site. And length of membership doesn't seem to matter. I've seen long time members ask the most basic, easily answered questions here because they don't do much on PBS. I've posted WL books by mistake and I know better. I certainly didn't do it with the same book twice in a row but I have done it before. |

I would report her to PBS-- if book is posted, it's supposed to be available to mail out per the PBS rules---NOT later once she's read it. It shouldn't have been posted til after she read it. |
