What's the deal with the same books having so many different ISBNs?  I just posted 4 WL titles by JD Robb and none of them are moving because there are variations in the ISBN.  Nearest I can tell it's the exact book just with different publishers than what's on the WL.  Is there anything I can do to get them to the people wishing for them?

I personally make a point to WL all the different ISBNs for a particular book b/c I don't care about publishing date or type of cover, but some people do. Have you posted anything in the book bazaar? It'll help draw attention to your bookshelf.

Also, you can tag the wishlist books with a note that says "available under ______ isbn #"

The editions could have different bindings, could be different sizes, one could be large print.  They likely have different publication dates, possibly different cover art, different publishers, or different people writing the preface.  When you post yours, if the title and author are the same, an e-mail will go out to the 'wishers' telling them that a book similar to one on their WL has been posted, and giving them a link to your book.

There's a thread in the Book Bazaar called

AUGUST Wish List Books by Different ISBNS on your bookshelf

where you can list it.  And a Sept. thread should be up soon.

Thanks for all the help  =)  I'm off to post in the Bazaar and hopefully make someone's day.

If there's a lot of copies of the versions you have then the people on WL most likely want those WL versions or they would have ordered an available version already.  You can tell how many copies of yours are available by putting them on your reminder list.  This is especially true if the WL is for audio and large print and there's lots of paperbacks and hardcovers available. Which is my guess with the JD Robb books.

Question about tagging WL books with the "available under ISBN # _____" tag.  Where does the tag show up?  Does it actually show up in the person's WL, or just when you search for the book?

It shows up only on the book you've tagged. When they pull the book up to WL it, they will see your tag, and if your book is the binding that they want, they will come order your book rather than wait on the other book that is the same, except for the ISBN. Do be aware, that the publication dates may be different and that might be something people are looking at too.
