ok, another question of how often does this happen to you?  I post at least 2 WL books a month, but it seems that few of my friends ever have them on their WL. Just posted one today that my MIL gave me so it's not among my favorite genres and it had wishes from 3 of my 'friends' here! So I had to randomly pick one to send it to.

Sometimes mine go to friends..I'm so on the fence with it though. I've been watching 1 book that I want badly and have noticed that my number in the wishlist line has remained at 1 even though the book is being posted. It's going to someone on a friend list. That's nice ...and I like the idea...and then it's disappointing when you keep getting skipped over.

I did get 3 wl books posted to me recently and I hadn't had any in awile so that was nice!

Which book are you looking for Michele?

I do post to friends most of the time.  But, I don't post many books, unless I need credits for games.  I try to check the WL of the person I'm sending a book to in a game to see if there is something else I've already read that I can send along with it.  If I only have a few books to post, or only enough mailing $$ to post a few, then I usually just post them as FIFO.  Once the FIFO book is accepted, then I check that person's WL to see if there is anything else I have that I can send.  If so, I send them a PM and ask if they want the other book(s) also.  If there are several, I sometimes offer them a deal.  I recently ended up sending 6 books to the same person this way!

I post to friends when I can but normally nobody on my friends list has it on their WL.

I check the WL of those I am sending to as well to see if there is another book they might like that I have or sometimes I find books on their lists to add to my list.

I would say that 75% of my WL books go to friends. Why? Because over the years I have developed a network of PBS Friends who are all working our ways thru the same series, authors or genres...they send to me, I send to them, in some cases we have even worked out a specific order of who gets the book 1st, 2nd, etc. These are people that I have been swapping books with for, in some cases 7-8 years. Not only do we share the books, we are also posting them back into the system after reading. I would rather see the books moving thru the system than sending to someone who might donate the book after reading rather than posting it back in the system for others to request. I do know the frustration of being at #1 and copies are being posted and I'm still at #1 and it's a sad feeling...I just always hope that the receiving member will receive it, read it and repost it.

If I've been waiting ages for a WL book and get it I always like to let the sending member know that I have waited for that book for years and how excited I am to get it. Like Michele, it makes my day to know that I fulfilled a longtime wish.
