I'm about half way through this book and I'm finding it surprisingly enjoyable.  I was irritated when I started reading it and found out it was first person, which I usually hate, and I'm not real fond of witchcraft paranormals but this is the exception in both cases so far.  The heroine is intelligent and not whiny in any way.  The book moves right along and the plot makes sense without being overly convoluted.  It has some romance in it, so if you dislike that this isn't the book for you, but so far, so good!

I just finished it and I think it finishes just as strong as it starts.  I recommend you give this book a try.  Even though it's the start of a series the book has a satisfying end and the heroine stays strong to the last, getting herself out of her predicament by using her own brain and skills.  I read tons of books and this stood out enough to be a pleasant surprise, I'm definitely going to get in line for the next one.
