Just curious your opinion about how fast the waiting list moves....I know it obviously depends on the book, but I am just looking for an average of what you've experienced. I'm thinking I might wait for a long time for a book that I am #1 in line for; yet, another that I am 10th in line for may get to be before I know it! ;) lol

I have some wishlisted books I've been at #1 for since I joined. Then others that had wish lists in the 2000's I have received. Popular books seem to move through the system and others just don't get posted often if at all. The books I wanted to read I ended up buying others I will keep wishlisted.

It really does depend on the book. I have many books on my Wish List that have only been posted once or twice, if at all, since I joined. I have others that I have zipped through a 300+ wish list in a matter of months. I tend to get a steady trickle of books off of my Wish List, but most of the fiction I read is common enough that it gets posted frequently.

Generally those super popular books with the long WL lines actually move  pretty quickly-between people having multiple versions on their WL, time outs, people who get it from the library, break down and buy it or find it at the thrift store-some of thsoe lines move up 50+ spots a week.  Many of those books then become the book that's super heavily posted and no one orders for a full credit.

Most of the ones that I've waited a long time for are the out of print ones.  But even then I've gotten quite a few of those-granted I was here for about 2yrs before I finally got some.  And many of htem I could have gotten fairly cheaply from Ebay or Amazon marketplace-I just didn't bother because I have a huge TBR.

But it's really hard to say because everyone's experience is different.

I have only been here since June but I am always getting WL books.  I am very happy with the quick waiting time on many of the books that I have requested.  I know that some of the other members have been waiting years for rare books.  I just got a notice that one of my WL books (That rarely gets posted) was available to order through the PBS Market.  I was able to apply a credit towards the purchase price and it was cheaper than many book or auction sites.  I guess in the end it just depends on how bad you want to read the book.

A bit off topic, but if you want to get an idea of what is requested most, and what is wish-listed most, look at "Top 50s" on the Community menu.  You can sort by various time frames, and it gives you numbers for the top movers.
