This was such a good book. It tells about Chaplain Pickett, who was a pastor at a church and how he came to become the death house Chaplain. It also told about how he was conflicted about this as he was not totally sure that he was for the death penalty. This was in Texas and they do seem to have an awful lot of executions. But he dicided that the men who were being put to death needed him to be there to give them cousel and to help them through those last few hours. It was such a powerful story and all of it true. He was the one who became the Chaplain when Texas reinstated the death penalty. I really liked the book.
