Rebecca Solnit is interesting in small doses, but at book length (this is the second book of hers I've tried to read) she is vague and meandering. For a whole book on walking, I expected her to give me some depth on various experiences and underlying dynamics, but almost every subtopic she takes on comes off superficial and frustrating. And the sections where she describes her own experiences are especially boring.
