Every time we type a book in for search, it comes up to buy it.  How can we do searches that would only bring up books that members have listed to swap?

Thank you,

Linda and Dick

Select "Posted" books only on the Book Browser.

The author pages are color coded.  Available books have a blue background, or a green link.

For the Search - make sure Search Type says Posted Books

You may still get the option to buy as well as order from member.

It sounds like the books you are looking up are wish list books.  Wish list books will have a Buy New From Amazon button on top and then right below a Post This Book button.  (I am talking about the actual book description page).  So if you don't want to buy them new you get on the wish list line.  On the right it'll have a list of other editions in the system and if any are green then there's editions available to order.

Non-WL books will have an Order This Book button on top and then a buy new from Amazon button below.  PBS gets a commission when we use the buy from Amazon links to buy anything from Amazon. So the link is on all books so if someone wants a guaranteed brand new copy for a gift or because they need it quickly, then can use the link to give PBS credit for the sale.

Yes, if you use the "+ WL" button (which you'll only find on books that have no copies posted -- with no blue and white "order this book" button) you'll be getting in line for the book.  When a member posts a copy of that ISBN, it will be offered to the member who is currently #1 in the wish list line, and everyone else will move up a notch.

And as others said, if you don't want to see these wish list books (with the "buy new", "buy from Amazon" and "+ WL" buttons), you can limit your search to "posted books."  To do that, do a search.  In the gray box that pops up, toggle the menu at the top from "all books" to "posted books" and submit your search again.  All the searches you do now from that browser session will show you only posted books, unless you toggle the menu to another option.
