I'm the opposite of another poster in another thread! I want cozies that are cutesy funnyand not too scary! I've read all the Psycic Eye ones by Victoria Laurie and really enjoyed them. I also read her 1st Ghosthunters book and waiting for the 2nd. I also enjoyed Jimmie Ruth Evans' Trailer Park mysteries though they weren't 'cutesy'. I've read the 1st in the 'deadend job' mysteries by elaine viets but not sure if it's for me...are the rst of these good? I have the 'yellow rose' mysterereis by leann sweeny 'cause they're set here where I live..I don't like the main characte or her sister very uch either but read them because they're, well, set here where I live! :-) I ejjoy the tea shop mysteries by laura child because ilike tea...the benni harper series by fowler because they have quilt names and I like the storylines...Monica Ferris' needlepoint series because I like reading about those kinds of crafts... I didn't care for the 2 flower shop mysteries I've read but since I have others in the series I guess I'll get to them evnetually..sorta easy reading when I can't stand the main charcter so don't care if she gets offed or not! :-) another mystery series I've readt hat are more chick lit than 'cozy' are Meg Cabot's Heather Wells mysteries I really loved those. so maybe it's chick lit type mysteries that are interesting me?? I liked 2 of the mystery series in the Harlequin Next series also: charlotte douglas' 'maggie skerritt', and stevi mittman's 'life in long island can be murder'..those were good and held my interest. I have a lot of other 'cozy 'series in my TBR pile but need a place to start! |

I'm reading the Joanne Fluke books. I like them quite a bit. I just got into cozy mysteries so I may not be the best one to answer you but I had a lady send me a whole list of books that told what they were like and kinda about. I will pm that to you and you can check those out. I also just started reading the Susan Wittig Albert Beatrix Potter series. I have just started the first book and it's a little hard to get into at first but they are cute. The animals talk to each other and you get to "hear" their conversations. I'm waiting on the Candy Shoppe Series by Sammi Carter to get here. Can't wait to start those. Also check out these 3 websites. You can search by topic/category for what you are looking for. http://www.stopyourekillingme.com/index.html http://berkleysignetmysteries.com/
Also search this forum. Just go to search forums and put in cozy mystery. There are several posts that I've read lately that are on this subject.
Hope that helps |

Try the Southern Sisters Mysteries by Anne George. They are the funniest books I've ever read. You can read them out of order without missing any of the story. Titles include Murder Shoots the Bull, Murder Boogies with Elvis, Murder Runs in the Family. |

I love the Sammi Carter Candy Shoppe Mysteries. I'm getting ready to read the 3rd one after my current book. I just read "Dim Sum Dead " by Jerrilyn Farmer, about an L.A. caterer. No recipes in the back of the book, but it was well written, and they kind of give you the recipes as they make them for their events. Really good. I have found a lot of other cozies by going to www.fantasticfiction.com and when I put in one author, at the bottom, it shows 3 or 4 other authors in the same genre. I've added about 20 new authors to my reminder list just from this one website!

There's the "Dead End Jobs" series by Elane Viets, and the "stuff" series by ...Fiffer. There's also "Ophelia & Abby" by Shirley Damsgaard. FYI - I have most of the books in the above series (not posted) if anyone is interested in a bulk order. |
