Hi! I'm looking for vintage romances, 1980s or earlier, from publishers/imprints such as Sapphire Romances, Magnum, Linford Romance Library, and Women's Weekly Library. Subgenres include contemporary, historical, and gothic/romantic suspense.
To be specific, I'm seeking alternatives to today's redemption romances. I'm not interested in reading about how a feisty heroine saves a nasty alpha male from himself.
It seems to me that most romances nowadays are all about power for the woman, redemption for the man, and mind-blowing sex for both. It's getting harder and harder to find those that aren't.
My kind of romances revolve around two people who actually love each other. They must overcome obstacles, internal and external. But the hero tends to be a nice guy, one who don't have to be redeemed. The heroine can be any kind, as long as she's deeply involved in an interesting situation.
I've found that the best place to look for my kind of romances is in vintage titles. Not all, of course; Harlequin and Silhouette have been publishing romances in the power/redemption mode from the start. But several other publishers offered more variety. These include certain UK publishers whose books are hard to find here in the US.
If you're interested in alternative romances, if you have some to swap, you're welcome to contact me. Thanks!
