I am looking for Christian Fiction book recommendations for my grandmother.  She spends much of her time reading and I like to surprise her with books that she would like.  She particularly enjoys books in a series and the authors Beverly Lewis, Janette Oke, and Gilbert Morris just to name a few.  Amish fiction, inspirational romance, and historical fiction are typically the type of books that she reads.

If anyone has any recommendations on other authors or series, I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

Wanda Brunstetter, Lori Wick, Beth Wiseman, Stephanie Grace Whitson, Tracie Peterson

Deeanne Gist and Julie Lessman are really good too, but they're considered "edgy" CF. I don't know how much kissing and such your grandma likes in her books. These two authors tend to have a lot of heavy duty kissing in their books.

Tamera Alexander, Karen Kingsbury, Allison Pittman, Lori Wick, Lori Copeland, Francine Rivers, Dee Henderson, Kristin Heitzmann, Deeanne Gist, Amanda Cabot, Maggie Brendan . . . these are some of my favorites.

If she hasn't read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, it is considered by many the best Christian fiction book written.  Check out the 750 reviews for it on Amazon.com in their books section.  Beautiful story, beautiful message.

I have just discovered Delia Parr and have to say that I have enjoyed what I have read by her so far.

Quoted by:  Morning Star - Telegram (Fort Worth) "A Witty Take . . . Relete with charm . . .  It is impossible to not like this book"

About a recently bereaved and newly wealthy widow . . . she seems to have a LOT of spunk and energy!  Looks like a great read your Grandmother would like!  The also state state it has razor-sharp wit and perfect  "Steel Magnolia" poise.

Looks like a GREAT book she would enjoy.  I am into a series of books myself, and just don't have time to fit this one in, but I believe she would LOVE this book!

Hi there!

I thought of one more book I have in my bookshelf your Grandmother might like!  It is called "Stick a Geranium in Your Hat and Be Happy!" by Barbara Johnson.

This is a HILARIOUS BOOK!!!  On the back cover, the author writes:  Life isn't always what you want . . . but it's what you've got!

This book is a collection of short stories - 2 pages long, 1 page long, poems, quotations, EVERYTHING!  It is HILARIOUS!!!  This book is about her outlook on life, and finding the POSITIVE in the negative!  In a funny way!  VERY comical!  An UPLIFTING READ!!!

This author speaks a LOT at the "Women of Faith" Conferences held around the country.  There are a LOT of authors at that website that have books that are GREAT!  You most likely will find them here on Paperbackswap.com  You can go to their website: www.womenoffaith.com  They have books, conference DVD's, T-shirts, ALL kinds of stuff!  ALL Christian, of course!

Have fun looking!!!

I wholeheartedly endorse "Stick a Geranium in Your Hat and Be Happy!"  I had the pleasure of seeing Barbara Johnson at a Women of Faith conference in Atlanta a few years ago.  She writes just like she speaks.  Very uplifting and full of life.  You can't read her book without coming away feeling blessed.

Great historical series - any of the series by Bodie Thoene.   Many deal with the era before, during and after WW2.  Great writing and a lot of them are available here on PBS.

Another author that my mother really enjoys is Kim Vogel Sawyer. Her books aren't Amish, they're Mennonite and most are contemporary.

The Day God Cried is a book your grandmother  might like.  It's by a new writer, Sandra Hope. It's about:

Jada was having dreams; not just normal dreams but colorful, emotional, and disturbing dreams involving heaven and angels. Though she denied it, she soon realized they were sent from God. As she struggled to understand, she learned secrets from her families past that left deep emotional scars. She learned that the task God was placing upon her was also shared by many other's whom God had put in her life.

Read how God in all His glory perfectly synchronized events using both people and angels so that one woman's journey could impact countless lives, born and unborn. -- . It can be found at Amazon. I guess I can say that.

I really enjoyed this book. The first paragraph actually gave me chills. (The good kind)  I read it in two days

Angela Hunt is another wonderful author.  She has several books, one I really liked was The Shadow Women (about the women in Moses life)
