I read this in the early 80's,when the Goonies fever swept the land; and found it... well, unimpressive. Then, its 20 years later and I gave it to my young (7 yrs old) son to read. He found it so interesting, so cool, he even asked me to clarify some words he could not understand. So, in tune with this new reality, I shall post that this book will likely appeal to the young (and the young at heart)and leave the rest of us old geezers scratching our heads and asking why do they like this piece of... but I digress
The book deals with the notion that adults are idiots and kids all knowing; thus to equal the scales the adults put the kids thru a de-kidding machine that turns kids into young adults... yes I know, sounds like the plot for a Kids Next Door episode, but bear with me. As the title implies, there is a war between kids and adults which -of course- the kids win.
The 'end' is so open ended that for years I wondered about a sequel.
