Another interesting book summarizing why it was actually a surprise that the Confederacy survived as long as it did. I have always thought that if the South had won the Civil War, it would only have been a matter of a few years, if not just months, before it would have split asunder into small 'countries,' if not just individual states. This book just reinforces that belief.

Unfortunately, while the author gives a bibliography, he does not reference statements in the text. However, if you read enough books on the war, most of what he states is supported in numerous other books.
