I don't know why this got a low rating from the PBS readers, but I thought this book was great. It is Book 2 of a series about the Scottish MacLeod family. This book is about Aidan MacLeod who is the laird of Isle of Lewis. At a young age he had to take over responsibility for his clan after his father fell off a cliff, while trying to kill Aidan's younger half-brother, Lachlan. Aidan's dad hated Lachlan because he was half-Fae. Their mother was bespelled by a Fae, who was actually the King of the Enchanted Isles in the Fae world, but her husband and sons blamed her because they thought she betrayed them and was unfaithful. After the death of his father, Aidan blamed and hated all Fae and made his brother hide the fact that he was half-Fae. This caused tension between them, even though they both really loved each other. When the Fae King is murdered, he comes to his daughter, Princess Syrena, in a vision and charges her to find and bring back her half-brother from the Mortal Realm and make him king. When she goes to the Mortal Realm to find the half-brother she didn't even know she had, she comes across Aidan who thinks she has escaped from kidnappers and offers his protection to her until her family can be located. She discovers Lachlan is his half-brother and takes the opportunity to meet him and try to get him to return with her to the Fae Realm. Lachlan wants nothing to do with her or the Fae. Aidan discovers her true identity and plan and feels betrayed once again by a woman and by a Fae. He and Syrena had actually started to develop strong feelings for each other, and of course, this causes a problem for them. Syrena returns to the Fae Realm and becomes the leader of her people. When Lachlan mysteriously disappears, Aidan must call on Syrena's help to find him - he thinks she abducted Lachlan and took him to the Fae Realm. In searching for their half-brother, they discover a group of people who have used an evil artifact to try to free a dark fairy lord. This group has taken Lachlan and some other Fae men because they gain power from drinking the blood of the Fae.

This has been an enjoyable series, with likeable secondary characters and interesting worlds. I look forward to the next book in the series which will be about Lachlan returning to the Enchanted Isles and taking his father's place as king. If you like stories about handsome, strong Highland warriors, with a paranormal or fantasy twist, you should like this series very much.

Interesting note: I read that this series is based on a faery flag that truly exists at the real life Dunvegan Castle in Scotland (Dunvegan Castle is where the first book takes place and where Aidan's cousin, Rory, is laird on the Isle of Skye).
