For people who have surgery or have extra weight or health issues, several things could be stopping you from exercising, try water classes. They have indoor heated pools at all 24 hour fitness centers and at YMCA centers. Some towns have other places.I am using 24 hour and they have many water classes.I have weight issues and over 6 surgeries, plus I walk on a cane.It has been a year of me doing these and I have brought my weight down from over 300 pounds to 240 right now and I am still working at it.I feel a lot better.I can breathe and move.I will never be tiny but at least now I can be more comfortable with my self and maybe one day be under 200 pounds.Take care. I have to agree with you about water workouts. I've been working out in the water for years - I have knee issues along with back problems, but the water really helps me feel better and stay in shape. I've got really toned legs and arms - I had a hysterectomy in June, and now I'm working on trying to get my stomach back into some shape, but since the surgery I've developed this large stomach. I am fortunate to belong to a health club that is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week except for Christmas Day. A water workout is great - tones your body and burns LOTS of calories - and best of all it's low impact on your joints and bones. Happy swmming.

hi there I am so glad you ladies found working out in the water! I have been participating for 17 years and leading classes for 10. I went through the land aerobics phase, the weight lifting phase, etc. But nothing makes me feel as good as getting in the pool and moving around! I will no doubt do it all of my life! I would be glad to offer any insight I am able if anyone has any questions.
