Post apocolyptic teen fiction by David Estes, and third in The Country Saga. Water country refers to the fleet of sailing ships commanded by tyrannical Admiral Jones. Storm Country refers to the tribe of people who live along the shorelines. The story is told by two points of view, Sadie, a rider in training, warrior for the people of Storm Country and Huck Jones, the son of Admiral Jones. Sadie lives to become a rider, and go to war with the "soakers," who killed her brother, and many of her people. Huck, who is destined to succeed his father, gets assigned to the worst ship in the fleet, must prove himself. But, he is attracted to a "bilge rat" girl, a slave.

In this book, we learn about the cure for the disease that affects all the people, and we learn why the Ice Country king took the children of Fire Country. We also keep up with the band of heroes from Fire and Ice Country.

I really enjoyed Huck's story, he's a conflicted hero, who only wants to do right. Sadie, is a harder character to like. She is full of anger, and a need for vengeance, is judgemental, and sees only her truth. She's a little tedious. But, when she needs to make the right decision, she comes through.

Enjoyed the book a lot. But, it just whets my appetite for the next in series, The Earth Dwellers. The teaser chapter for The Earth Dwellers just makes it worse. I have enjoyed this whole series immensely.
