I'm not sure the above question made any sense, tried to word it into the space allowed. lol.

Anyways, I found an AWESOME deal locally on books. 200 paperbacks, 200 hardcovers all for $50.00! I saw them last night, they are all like brand new. Woohoo! :) Going to pick them up tonight, but was wondering if there is a way to mass check numerous isbn's at once to see if they are WL or not?

Some of these will probably go to other sites, but 400 books is ALOT to go through one by one to check ISBN individually!

Thanks for any info.

I think this would work.

1. Go on Vacation hold. (this will prevent anything from being ordered while you complete process)

2. Use the post a file of isbn option to load all isbns you have

3. Review your book shelf to see which are wishlisted.  W next to it means wish listed.

4. Checkmark any you don't want to post and hit delete button in top right.  there is also a mark all button if you wanted to take them all off your list.  If you think you would like to list them on pbs later, you can use the hold button instead of the delete button.

5. When you get your bookshelf looking how you like, remove the vacation hold.

I haven't done this, but it seems like it would work.

I like Ronda's idea better than mine, but putting them on your TBR list will also let you know if they are WishListed or not, without involving your Bookshelf right away...

Also posting them to your Reminder List will let you know how many are already in the system, and you can post them to your BL from there also.  Congrats on getting that many books and hope you are able to send a ton of them out.  Pat

I know one of the library data programs has a bar code scanner.  Librarything?  If you get the scanned codes into a list, you can import the list.  Does not sound like you can use that option to post to a RL.  From help:

To Post a File of ISBNs:

  • Click the "Post a File of ISBNs" link at the top of the Post Books page
  • Import your file of ISBNs
  • Acceptable file formats: plain text, HTML, CSV.
    • ISBNs do not have to be on separate lines in the file.  They also do not have to be separated by commas, but they do need to be separated by at least one space between ISBNs.

Thank you everyone for the info. I forgot I had posted this and when I got home last night I sat here all night checking each one individually. LOL. Duh me.

Glad I checked though because a bunch were WL and a bunch were too heavy or had high resale (textbooks) so they were dropped elsewhere. Took me until 4am to get them all posted/sorted and to add pics on the ones missing them in system but I got it! :)

Thank you for the help, will try to remember to actually use it next time. lol. Still cant believe I did it that way!

I use the bookmark applet listed below the Member tools. (I'll help you if you can't figureout how to use it from its instructions) I load the page with no more than 50 books at a time, then load them to my Reminder List. After I've checked which ones dont have 800+ copies, or whatever, then I do it again, and uncheck those books that I'm not interested in listing, and post them to my bookshelf. Or, in your case, only list as many WL'd books as I'm ready to list at a time. But, they are then on your RL for when you are ready to post them.

Let me know if you need more help with the bookmark tool. I'll be glad to help. I use it lots and find it to be a really great time saver and saver of posting too many WLs or books that have saturated the system already :)

ETA: Sorry, I missed your post that you already posted them. Well, maybe someone else will use my help, or maybe you will find another deal and will use it then :)
