Is there a way to see how many of a particular book is in the system?

And how far you are down the list of a particular book being requested?

And also, say twenty people put a particular book into the system? Does it go in chronological order of who put the book up first? As in the first person to put it up gets to send it out first and so on?

1) Yes.  If you add the book to your reminder list, it will tell you how many copies are available.

2) No.

3) Yes.  The site operates on a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory system.

One thing to remember is to delete the book title from your RL once you see how many there are currently.  If you don't do this and it remains on your RL, you'll have to search it out of the RL the next time you want to check on it.  This is a small thing, but I hate searching through my RL just to find out how many of a certain title are in the system.

Welcome to PBS!  It is addicting and you will love it.

Question one - to add your book to the reminder list - go to the description page of the book - then click on the reminder button.  Go to my lists under the my account tab and click on reminder list.

Question two:  PBS is working on a way to provide this information to members.   As they explained in a previous newsletter, just knowing where you are on a list won't be much help because wonder if the book hasn't been requested in 6 months. So they are working on a system that will give some raw data that that will help you decide if it worth keeping on the system.

As for the third I have a little more to offer - yes it is FIFO

......but members can request directly from your bookshelf.  I have had books requested that had over 100 copies on the system and I know there were over a 100 when I posted - but the book was requested so it is more than likely that it was requested directly from my shelf.  You can also run deals on BB if you want to move books on your shelf or you can post on the genre forum (red sticky at the top of the forum) either run a deal or you can just advertise your bookshelf so members will browse.  I will include non-postable books with a request (if I have them).  If I have muliple orders by the same member, I will sometimes throw in a postable book as a bonus to fill in the box or just because I feel like it :)

By posting on this or other forums it exposes your bookshelf to other members who may take a look and request a book.
