I found book I wanted to order about a week ago, but I didn't have any credits to get it. Once I did get the credits, the book was gone.

Normally, I would assume that someone had ordered it. But this was an old book, so I was thinking that possibly someone posted it and didn't get any takers so they took it down. Is there anyway to tell?

Not that I can think of.  Only if you knew who had the book could you PM them and ask.  But we don't usually know that information.

Wacha looking for?  Maybe someone else has it sitting on a shelf and can send it to you.

Also you could try posting a "Wanted" post in the genre(s) the book falls in.  And put it in your signature line.  It would get lots of viewing that way - especially if you keep posting on the forums.  FIFO is set up to run smoothly and efficiently, putting names to books might not be so smooth or efficient!

Looking for a HARDCOPY of my favorite book - Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas.  My 1488 page paperback has been much loved and has been bandaged with scotchtape many times.

I'm looking for an unabridged / unadapted hardcopy that won't fall apart easily.

I'm not sure this would work, but you could try adding it to your Wish List (if you haven't already). They show the number of "wishes granted last week" if there were any. I don't know if that's calendar week, past 7 days, or whatever. If it shows that there was an order last week, then you'll know for sure that someone ordered it. If that doesn't show up, then I guess you still don't know for sure.

Heidi - this goes in the genre forums and not in this or the CMT forum.  Put this in the proper place.

I did wish list the book but it doesn't say that a wish was granted. Which was why I had the question about the book possibly being dropped.

Ruthy...this is exactly where Heidi should post her question...perhaps you should read the OP more thoroughly before telling people to put something in the proper place.

Christy, I think Ruth is referring to the other post by Heidi re: looking for a copy of Count of Monte Cristo.

Heidi was responding to Geri who asked what she was looking for.

Exactly what Mary S said....Geri (geejay) asked what book she was looking for...IMHO it was appropriate for her to answer the question.

FYI - there are at least two in the system:  http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/browser.php?s_type=a&k=count+of+monte+cristo&ti=&a=&g1=&b[]=Hardcover&pd_type=e&pd=&r=n&sby=&oby=ASC&ts=&saved_name=

By hard copy, I'm assuming you mean hard cover?

If I offended anyone, I am sorry.  I read all the posts twice and the feeling I got from  the one I said was inappropriate was that it was just the kind of post that should be on another forum (I forgot that the BB was a good forum for it, too).  Had she prefaced the post with something like "Since you asked .....".  Instead I read it as I've already described.  My apologies to all concerned.
