I have read many clever suggestions for how to use the system that I didn't know or wouldn't have though of.  So, I'm asking if there is any way one can see a list of authors, by genre, according to how many of their books have been traded recently.  Kind of a "most popular author" list.  I think that would be really helpful for someone who is new to a genre to figure out who the most popular authors are.

On the other hand, does anyone know of a website that may do something like that?  Perhaps listing the best selling authors in a genre.

Kate--

Don't know how to do that on this website, but if you haven't already, you might want to check out the Fantastic Fiction website:

http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/

A comprehensive list of authors--and if you click on the letter for the author's last name, you can then narrow down by genre.  The authors are also rated by a "star" system--the more stars shown by an author, the more popular the author is.  It's a great site that I reference all the time!

Or go to the Club Wish List and search by genre to see what authors have large lines, and you can go to "Community" at the top, "Top 50s" for the top 50 requested and Wl'd books. The latter doesn't have them by genre, but you can see the main catagory for all 50. Otherwise FantasticFiction is probably the best bet.

You can also go to Amazon Communities and read the forums and personal lists for book recommendations.

Amazon's Advanced Search has many options, no idea if Best Seller is one of the choices (published after dates is tho).

Just keep in mind that "best seller" can translate into very heavily posted onto PBS.

Find best-sellers at a bookstore websites ie: Brnes and Noble, Books -A Million, etc.. But you can also search for books on,  www.bookfinder.com If you just put the authors name in you get a list of available books by that author. I would not buy books just to post on this site. Buy what you like to read, and someone else will like it too.
