This book is a brilliant critique of public education. It exposes the real reasons public school is designed to keep kids bored, confined, obedient and complacent. It shows how public school cannot educate children because its not designed to educate. He also explores what it is designed to do and how well it actually does what its designers intended. Gatto discusses his own 30 yr experience as a teacher and his exhaustive research of public school's dark beginnings.

If you homeschool and you've ever wondered if your kids would be better off in PS, read this book! It will encourage you in your endeavors to educate your children. If you want to undue some of the damage being done to your children in PS, read this book.
