Author: John Berger
A blind Greek peddler tells the story of the wedding between a fellow peddler and his bride in a remarkable series of vivid and telling vignettes. As the book cinematically moves from one character's perspective to another, events and characters move toward the convergence of the wedding--and a haunting dance of love and death.

Remarkable novel of Ninon and her family told through the "visions" of an Athens street peddler. Unusual use of narration. If you stick with it, you are rewarded with a story on the meaning of love, the purpose of life, the strength of family, and strong, haunting characters who will not soon leave your imagination. The Amazon reviews suggest Berger should win a Nobel prize for literature, and based on this novel I can understand that. Set in modern day, between France, Italy, Czech, Slovak and Greece.
