This must be the day for them. I had a book on my WL. My number came up, I got all the usual notifications and then I got this odd PM. All in caps. I know some folks need them for vision reasons but it really does feel like shouting to me. They told me they mailed the book today. That was fine, very timely, they said they sent it first class with DC. They told me it was brand new and never read. And then they reminded me to log in and acknowledge receipt of the book. I found this odd. I suppose they have had problems with people not acknowleding receipts of books but why not wait until it's reasonable to assume that I have received the book and ask then? PBS will ask me several times if I have received something. They really don't need to do anything. I sent a nice note thanking them for sending the book and assuring them I would log on as soon as I received it. susan/vt

That's...strange. It doesn't seem like it'd be very helpful on their end to tell you on the day they send it to remember to say you received it. That seems like something that'd be better done after the DC says that it was delivered. Then, if they feel you've forgotten, a friendly reminder would be appropriate. Oh well, I guess they were just concerned, as you said. |

Was it a new member? Maybe they are not familiar with the fact that you will get reminders from PBS. |

I didn't think of that. I went and looked, no public profile but she has 55 books all listed on 2/4 so I would guess she is brand spanking new. Well, we all were new once. She took it very seriously and wanted to let me know. I'll have to be sure to let her know how much i appreciate the book when it arrives. susan/vt |

I got the same PM, apparently from the same member. I just assumed she was new as well and handled it as you did. I figure that once she starts ordering books herself she'll see how the system works re emails and updates. And in the meantime, why dissuade someone who seems to be taking the mailing process seriously? |

I did that when I was new also. I didn't realize the system noted the book being mailed. I was used to eBay. :-) |

Oh, yes, eBay is the one site that is the complete opposite in quality to PBS! I love PBS. I hate public feedback requirements. Ruth |

The public feedback is essential to ebay. It's one thing to risk a few bucks sending a paperback to someone without having any idea whether they are reliable. But if you are going to buy something that costs more than that, the feedback lets you know that the person has had successful transactions in the past. I would never buy anything on ebay without that (and I shop ebay a lot!). |

I use the feedback on ebay and Amazon to decide where I'm going to make a purchase. When I look at some and see that people are complaining about the delivery time or not receiving something they have paid for I hesitate to get something from that person/company. Of course, here I've lost two credits to people not responding to my request for a credit back. Which I know doesn't sound like much to others here but definately cut into my credits at the time.
