If you buy the book new after following the "buy it new" link PBS will get a small portion of the purchase price.

They are basically links to those books on Amazon.

oh, ok..thanks! :)

so basically if we want to support pbs, we should buy all our books through these links. :)

they should advertise that a bit better. :)

It's a courtesy button.  We can all manage to find the books we want online at amazon or elsewhere, or we can drive ourselves to a bricks and mortar.  So, it's just a courtesy, a quick link to that book online, and it helps PBS just a little.  I think it's a lovely little feature that they've kindly added to this great site.

I love to combine this feature with CoinStar.  I save all my change for about 3 months, dump it into a CoinStar machine and get the Amazon gift certificate.  Then I shop my wishlist with the credit.

I cashed out in December and was able to get some movies that DH want (obviously not a wishlist item), plus a book he wanted that has been on my wishlist for almost a year, plus 3 books came off my wishlist for me to enjoy.  One thing I like about this system is that you can choose to buy a new book at full price, but they also have all the individual sellers with that book listed.  My money can go even further if I'm willing to buy from an individual.
