I know most homeschoolers have homeschool all year round. We do to but I call it time off. It is time off form work books.

Not time off for the brain. We go places all summer long three days a week we do some kind of outing. This is the time I use to really teach history and science. The best part about it is he doesn't even think of it as learning.

We do Art two days a week, plus his week end art class at the galery at Indian springs. Swiming, horse back riding, (OK I am afraid of horses because of something that happen years ago) I don't want him to be afraid, so he goes with his great uncle horse back riding. I love to pet them but that is as long as they are on one side of the fence I am on the other.

So what are you all doing?

We are doing most of our usual stuff but we also have a lot more activities.  Kids are taking golf lessons and swim lessons.  Also just bought a croquet set for family to play together.  Our vacation will be in September to Colonial Williamsburg.

We hope to make it to the Oregon Coast to say in a cabin on the beach again this summer. My 12 y.o. daughter keeps asking "Can we go back to the cabin ?"

I'll have my daugher practice some skills this summer. Especially math skills. She may be taking drawing lessons. She did really well when she was taking them in the Fall but she became sick and needed to stop.

I'm taking a medical vocabulary class at a local community college this summer.

We keep up with math and reading, and also do a lot of art, nature study, and science experiments. We have a membership to the art museum (which includes admission to that museum as well as the children's art museum, which has a lot of hands-on activities). We do the kid classes at Home Depot, concerts in the park, all the summertime activities through the church...

Summertime is fun!

Mary, the craft stores do stuff, too. Check Hobby Lobby and Michael's. I don't know if JoAnn Fabrics does any, but it's worth a look.

We are studying about bugs- the library has summer theme of bugs and my son does not want to go.- He wants hands on stuff- he digs up a new bug and mommy needs to name it.  He just came back from library with 7 new bug books.  Last week was about bees.  He spotted a bee in the yard and asked me to tell him more.  Oh well, no socialization this summer- just me and my son and a shovel and magnifying glass.  ( Did I tell you - I hate bugs and spiders)  What we do for our children.  I will be able to identify them and tell you all about them- just don't hand them to me.

LOL Holly, I am right there with you.

It sounds like you all are having a good time and that is great.

Gives me a couple more ideas too.

I am honestly just trying to avoid being dumped on.

What do people think?  Oh, there's a homeschooler - free babysitter! yea!

Um, no.
