I don't know about foods that will help, but I do know a few to avoid. My problem was with food sticking in my throat, sometimes leading me to throw up because of a gag reflex. Stringy, dry meats like poultry or beef (but not ground beef), and starchy foods like breads and potatoes would usually cause it. Pot roast and mashed potatoes was a double-whammy and would cause it every time. The doctor said it was because of inflammation due to acid reflux. I've been on the generic for Prilosec (omeprazole) for a while now, taking as needed, and haven't had any problems since.

a good and very effective natural remedy for acid reflux is to dissolve about a teaspoon of baking soda into a cup of water, stir, and then drink.  Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate)  is a base that will neutralize the acid in your stomach.  But be careful, baking soda contains salt so you don't want to take it too often as it will raise your salt intake.  but great for when your reflux is raging.  after you drink it, you will then burp and then feel better.

I've had wicked acid reflux forever and now take Nexxium for it.

However, when I went on a pretty much gluten-free diet, I found I need a lot less Nexxium.

My son has much less of a problem when he takes less Motrin or Tylenol.

My sister does much better is she avoids sugar.

So, my advice is to keep a log noting when the problem is most severe and what you ate or drank in the 24 hours preceding.  It seems it is not the exact same solution for everyone, but I bet you can spot some diet issues that will indicate a few couses of action to lesses the problem.

Avoid = alcohol, fat (ice cream), acidic food (tomatoes, lemons, organes), chocolate, pizza, SODA (carbonation)

Helps = PPI (nexium, prilosec), increasing elevation of chest and head when sleeping so no acid goes up into esohphogus, NEVER EAT LATE AT NIGHT, Try to eat small portions and not huge one.

Top 10 Natural Remedys for Acid Reflux

1. Drink a glass of milk. Even though opinions differ on whether it should be whole or skim milk, this is an accepted and often recommended measure for immediate relief for heartburn and acid reflux.

2. Drink water. The water will dilute the stomach acid and wash down anything that might be planning on defying gravity, so a big glass ort wo of water after your meal might do the trick.

3. Chew almonds. A few almonds, taken in the morning and/or after meals, chewed very well, have been hailed as the new miracle treatment for acid reflux by some people.

4. Chamomile or fennel tea. The soothing effects of chamomile or fennel tea are also known to provide acid reflux relief. The tea should best be sipped, not gulped, and should be of a moderate temperature, not too hot or cold.

5. Eat an apple. Eating an apple after a meal has also been found to alleviate acid reflux. Choose organic apples and chew well.

6. Candied ginger. Chew a piece when you're feeling the acid reflux kick in. You can also put a piece of candied ginger in your tea and let it sit for a bit before drinking it if you don't like eating candied ginger.

7. Apple cider vinegar.  Swallow two to three table spoons undiluted for an acute attack, or dissolve the same amount in warm water to drink to prevent acid reflux from recurring.

8. Papaya enzyme. Available in the form of papaya enzyme pills, this enzyme has helped end acid reflux symptoms for some people.

9. Aloe. Despite its consistency which takes some getting used to, aloe juice also is some acid reflux patients favorite remedy.

10. Chew gum. After your meals, chew sugarless gum for 30 minutes. This stimulates saliva production which in turn like water that you drink dilutes the contents of your stomach and helps wash down anything from your esophagus into your stomach.
