I had high hopes for this book, but ultimately, was disappointed. I don't think any thoughtful, logical person would have blamed McClellan for the lies he disseminated for Bush and company. But after he found out, why didn't he resign and blow the whistle? He has plenty of connections in Texas ( he's Dean Keeton's grandson, for pity's sake !!! ) and could have found another job quickly.

McClellan's book is too little, too late. It's just the whining apologia of another "good ol' boy".

Still don't know "What Happened" after reading this book (like why Bush went to war against Iraq... the author is just speculating). But, the lecture on the permanent campaign and how partisan politics is crippling the effectiveness of our government is worthwhile.

No new news here. More a chronicle of Scott McClellan than any true insights.

I wouldn't consider the author having deep insights, but the first part of the book is his biography and his philosophy, which he keeps coming back to.

I have found McClellan's assessment of the Bush administration to be fair and insightful. The interplay between White House staff members has been much speculated upon, and I found Scott McClellan's perspective on the individual personalities and the role they played in political maneuvering especially insightful. It provides a thoughtful analysis by a Republican who is concern about the future of his party and the nation. I do highly recommend this read.
