This morning a WL book appeared on my account.  It is one that I've been waiting for and I have plenty of credits so I accepted the book.  I just got home from grocery shopping and the book is completely gone.  It's not on my main page and it's not on my transaction archive.  I did check the WL and it IS back there in the #1 spot.

So...did the person who posted the book just decline? No reason or explanation given?  I thought that you had to give a reason for declining even if the reason is "Sorry!".

Hmmm.  Frustrating.

You only have to explain if you can't meet requestor conditions.   You can decline to send a book without any word to the requestor.

It's a distinct possibility that the person listed the book at more than one site, it was requested at the other one first, or the owner preferred a credit there, so cancelled your request.

I've had to cancel books when I noticed that they were "unpostable" after posting.  Usually when going to wrap them.  But then I often offer it as a freebie to the requestor.

And I think you can't cancel a WL book until it has been accepted.  Is that right?

If they outright cancelled it instead of declining RCs, it will appear in your TA as a cancelled transaction. Whatever their reasons, it appears they can't send it.

If it was never accepted by the sender then it will not show up in your TA.  It only shows up if it was accepted on both sides.

It's possible that they got the book from PBS and had it on their shelf on hold and then unheld it instead of deleting it.  Or maybe the system posted it twice (this has happened to me a couple of times where there's a hiccup and then my books gets offered to 2 people).  Or like someone said they could have noticed damage to the book after they posted it.

Mary, I think you're mistaken that a book won't show up in the Transaction Archive unless it's accepted on both sides. I'm pretty sure that in my TA there are books listed as "Wish List book not accepted by wishing member," not because I decided I didn't want it, but just because I had been busy and hadn't been here to respond in time. So I think that once it shows up as an offer or request, it will show up in the transaction archive so you can see what ended up happening.

Have you looked at your Club Communications file to see if there is a PM from PBS saying it was cancelled and why?  I've had that happen and I always have a PM from PBS.

Well I've never let a request time out but I've had them them time out on me when I've posted a WL book or accepted a WL offer and it wasnt' accepted on the other side and they never showed up in the TA-unless they were accepted and then not marked mailed.
