I had a wish list book being sent to me that went lost in the mail ( it was mailed on 2-24). My request went to the next person, and the book was mailed today. What happens if I get the first book in the mail?? Last Edited on: 3/29/11 5:58 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

If it was mailed on time then you need to mark it received. PBS suggests you wait 2 wks before reordering a book that has gone lost, which means for a WL book, putting it on hold. Or risk getting 2 copies and paying 2 credits. If the book was mailed really late then you do not have to mark it received. I think in the help docs it says if it was mailed a week before it was supposed ot go lost then you don't have to mark it received. All this is in the help docs if you look. |

Mary,
The book was on auto so when the first went lost, the second one came to me automatically. So I will have 2 of the same book LOL |

If the book was mailed late, then you do not have to mark the first copy as received. You must mark the second copy received when it arrives. If it was mailed on time, you should mark it received. The system is suppose to put the second copy on hold. That apparently did not work. From help:

Bertie, if the book went lost, then it is your responsibility to go into your wishlist and take the auto-request off so you DON'T get 2 copies. As others have said, this only applies if the first sender actually mailed the book late--provably either by admission from the sender or by a clear postmark or metered mail sticker. If that sender mailed the book on time and it just took a long time to get to you, you are indeed stuck with 2 books and should go mark the first book received from the Transaction Archive. Since it seems it's a wishlisted book, you can of course just turn around re-post it. Cheryl |
