I think a book requested from me may have been made by an abandoned account on auto-request. I was having a problem mailing the book on time, so I sent a couple PMs about it and then another after it was mailed and none received a reply. According to the delivery confirmation, the book was received a couple weeks ago but has yet to be marked as such. Since I used DC, I got my credit, but I was wondering what would happen after the deadline passes and a book hasn't been marked received even though credit was given?

EDIT: I'm exhausted right now. I fixed the typos I could find, but apologize for any I missed.

A person has to log in every 2 weeks or their account goes inactive.  I think at that point, their WL is on hold.

Eric--

Once a threshold of ignored communications is reached (i.e. not responding to requests), the system automatically puts the account on hold until the member logs in and communicates with PBS to resolve the problem.

If it has been more than a week and the member has not responded to your PM, you should use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page and let the site owners know.  They'll investigate and put the account on hold if they're inactive and, if needed, mark your book received.  I had a similar problem on Swap-A-CD and that's what they did.

More details are in the Help Center under "If a book you sent hasn't been marked received yet..."

Cheers,

Catt

Eric, basically nothing will happen - the book will be considered "lost" if the person's account is still active, but you still have your credit.

If you pm them and don't hear back after a week, the previous poster is correct - you can let PBS know and they'll look into it.

Actually, the 2-week thing is for how long your computer will keep you logged in before automatically logging you out.  Some sites have a "remember me on the computer unless I log out" statement, where PBS's is simply "remember be for 2 weeks".  There are several factors that go into an account becoming inactive, not just how long it's been since you logged in.
