i put my account on hold today b/c ihave to slow down a bit. i have sent over 30 books out and have only been here for a little over a week! lol!

but one book is on someone's WL (48 hold).

what happens in that situation?  do i have to put my account out of "on hold" status before that person can accept?

Hi Alex,

From the PBS Help Center:

How does the Hold affect your Bookshelf?

  • The books that are on your Bookshelf at the time the Hold goes into effect will be hidden from requests.

  • This does not include books that are involved in a Wish List Hold or an active transaction.
  • The FIFO order of each book will be preserved during the Hold; it will not "lose its place in line" to get requested.
  • Books that are already involved in an active request will not be affected by the Hold.
    • Any book request that was submitted before the Hold went into effect will not be affected by the Hold
    • Any book request you submit at any time (before, during or after the Hold will not be affected by the Hold.
  • This means that all auto-emails associated with an active transaction will be sent to you as usual
    • You will still get auto-emails asking if you have received a book that is en route to you 14 and 21 days and 25 days after the book was marked mailed by the sender.
    • You will still get "second" and "third" notifications for previously-submitted requests to which you have not responded.
    • You will still get auto-email reminders to mark your outgoing books mailed before the deadline if you have not done so.

Hope this helps!

your WL is not on hold if you have your books on auto request (if I remember correctly).  I think your WL is on hold if you do not have them set to auto request

You have to set your WL books on autorequest if you still want to receive them but not take any book orders. Any WL books you post while your account is on hold will not go on hold and will be offered to the 1st person in line.  It used to be any books you post while your account is on hold will be available but I think they changed this to WL books.

Actually that has been changed and if you list wish list books while your account is on hold they ARE NOT offered until you take your account off hold.

From the help center:

  • Books newly Posted to your Bookshelf during a Hold will be hidden from requests.

It used to be that if your account was on hold and you posted a book that was on someone's WL it would be offered to that person.  But apparently it just goes on hold w/the rest of your books now.

Just put your account on hold and put all your wl books on autorequest. That way you can get books but won't be getting new orders. You can also order books (not WL) while your account is on hold.

I'm not a "newbie," but where do I find the "club wish list" someone mentioned? I'd surely like peek at THAT one!

Margaretann,

Put your cursor on the Search tab at the top of the page, and you'll see "club wish list."

Oh, good.  I was going to tell you not to clear your bookshelf, because even while you are on hold, your books will be moving up in the FIFO order.  The order is determined by the date the book is posted to your shelf.

You were certainly welcomed to the club with a bang!  30 books!  I promise it'll slow down a bit after all your wishlisted books are grabbed up. :-)
