I searched but have been unable to find the answer to this question specifically. I requested a book and the sender accepted the request. It states in my account that it should have been mailed by 7/3/08. It appears as if the sender did not mail it, or at least did not mark it mailed by the deadline. What do I do now? There is no cancel button for me to get my credit back, yet I assumed the swap just defaulted if someone did not click the "i've mailed" button by the deadline. If anyone understands my babbling and knows the answer, please let me know. Thanks! Jen |

Hey Jen, The sender has 2 days after the mail by date to mark the book mailed. After that, if he/she still doesn't mark the book mailed...... From the PBS Help Center: What if the sender agrees to send the book, but doesn't mark it mailed before the deadline?
Hope this helps. Last Edited on: 7/5/08 5:04 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Hi Jen, Welcome to PBS, I hope you love your membership here as much as I do mine. As for your book order, if the member has printed the wrapper, you will not be able to cancel the order, nor should you, since they still have time to mark the book mailed. Even if there was a Cancel Button on the order, resist the urge to click it, the order will automatically move on to the next member who has the book posted. And it will remove the book from the person's shelf, also. The PBS system will do most of the work for you when ordering books, but it does require a bit of patience. I am copying below the topic in the Help Center that has a lot of good information about this situation. It can be found in the Ask The Librarian section of the Help Center, near the bottom of the Help Center page. The sender hasn't responded! Should I cancel? I hope you get your book soon, with the Holiday on Friday, it may already be in the mail to you, and the other member may not have had a chance to mark it as mailed. Cheryl |

Thanks Marsha and Cheryl. I didn't realize that the sender has 2 days after the mail by date to mark the book mailed. That makes more sense now. Thanks a bunch. I appreciate your help. |

I would PM the person and let them know that they need to mark it mailed. It could just be that with the holiday, they forgot to mark it mailed. Give them a deadline to respond and say you'll reorder the book from someone else if you don't hear from them by x date. The system will order another book for you so I would cancel the 2nd request. If you need to reorder the book it'll go to that 2nd person. But this way you won't end up with 2 books. If you end up with 2 books you only have to give a credit to the person who marked it mailed on time. But I do think you should try to stop the 2nd request until you give the 1st person a chance to respond. Especially with a Holiday in there. |

Just so you know, the PBS system sends the person an email BEFORE the "extra" two days are up to remind them to mark the book mailed. So, you really don't need to PM a reminder. |
