Several weeks ago one of my Wish List books finally became available to me - Yipee!  The book still has not arrived in the mail and my guess is that PBS will consider it 'lost' in the next few days. (I have already received a reminder e-mail from PBS asking if it has been received)

Two questions.....

1. IF it ends up being 'lost', where will I end up on the list for wanting this book?  Will I be first or last?

2. IF the book shows up after PBS has deemed it 'lost', can I still mark it as received?  If yes, how would I do that?

I am hopeful that with all the holiday mail at the post office they are just extra slow in my delivery.  I have never had a book go 'lost' on me before.

1.  You will be put back into the first WL spot for the book once the system has marked it 'lost'

2.  If the book turns up, you can mark it received through your transaction archive.

I know that when a book goes lost, PBS suggests that you wait before ordering a new copy so you don't end up with 2 and out a credit if the first copy shows up a week later.  What are you supposed to do in the case of a wishlist book?  If you get offered a second copy, you don't have the option to wait more than a couple of days without giving up your spot in line.  Are you just supposed to order the second book and assume that if you get 2 copies you will be able to post and mail one right away since it is wishlisted?  I haven't actually had this happen.  I'm just curious for future reference.

Wendy, Terri is absolutely correct in what she told you. Here are further details for your information, and for Stephanie as well since she had some questions.

If the book goes lost, the system will try to locate another available copy in the system and if it finds one, it will automatically order that copy for you.  (That's why you are advised by PBS not to order a new copy right away.)  If the system does not find another available copy, it will place you on the first place on the WishList for the book, ensuring you will get a chance to order the next available copy posted.  At that point, it is a regular WishList book and you can order it as soon as it becomes available.

If your "lost" book does arrive after the book has been declared lost, you can receive it from your Transaction Archive.  When the book is marked lost by the system, it goes to your Transaction Archive with a Was the Book Received link to the right hand side.  You can click on this link to receive the book if it does show up later.  When you click on this link, the credit you initially spent on the book (which was returned to you when the book was declared lost) will go to the Sending member, and be removed from your account.  The transaction (which was marked with a red X when it was declared lost) will change to the green check mark of a successfully completed transaction.

Hope this helps.

Thank you - this is very helpful.  I am going to keep my fingers crossed that the book makes it to me soon.  But, if I know that I will be placed first again then I am not worried.

PBS is awesome....the folks on here are great!
