I have a hardcovered copy of Walt Disney's Story Land book.  When I key in the ISBN the description comes back as softcovered.  What do I do?  Could they really be the same?

I hadn't thought of that, Leslie.  Very interesting.  Amazon says it's a hardcover.  So I guess the listing in PBS is wrong?

You will need to post the book without an ISBN.  Here is the HC stuff on that:

  • If your book does NOT match the information in the Book Listing Preview:

    • If it is a minor difference, such as a misspelled title or the wrong author first name, you can post the book and submit corrections afterward using the Edit Book Data link.
    • If the booktype is different (if your book is a paperback, and the Preview shows hardcover, for example):
      • You will need to post the book without an ISBN
    • If the book title says "(Large Print)" and your book is regular-size font:
      • You will need to post the book without an ISBN
  • To Post a Book Without an ISBN:

    • Click the link "Post a Book Without an ISBN" at the top of the Post Books page.

PBS is not necessarily wrong, just because Amazon says it's a HC. They have been known to be wrong also. Regardless, tho of who is right, if you search the Internet and find no listings of this book as a PB, then you can submit a request to have it reconsidered by PBS.

But, if there are other books posted to this ISBN, it is very probably going to be denied, but I have seen it go thru. If you find other databases, such as Alibris, A1Books, Biblio and such with it listed both ways, and there are other copies posted, you will probably have to list your edition as a non-ISBN book.

Here is the Help Center page with more information:

If the information on a book listing in the database is incorrect...

Mention that you own a HC copy with that ISBN, that Amazon calls it HC also, and request that your ISBN be re-classified before posting it w/o a number.

are you referring to ISBN 0307165477 if so...

    Alibris shows both: http://www.alibris.com/search/books/qwork/7113695/used/Walt%20Disney%20Storyland

    Amazon shows both: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0307165477/ref=dp_olp_1

    Anobii shows both: http://www.anobii.com/books/01e81386cd49112387/

PBS isn't wrong..it is just that both share the ISBN and the paperback got posted first.
