One of the books on my wishlist has 165 people wishing for it, and no one posting it. Ive been #31 on the list for months. Its "the Heroin Diaries" by Nikki Sixx. has anyone seen a longer wish list? for what book?

There are over 1,300 wishers for the number one wished for book on PBS!!   I can't remember the title, but go under "community" and "top 50" to find out.

I'm also on the WL for Heroin Diaries - stuck at #32, can you believe that?  So, make sure you post it when you are done with it so I can have it!!  :)

A couple on my wishlist were in the 300s at one point.  I don't know that I'd have the patience to wait for one in the thousands!

I am thinking that maybe for christmas I will buy a few copies of the books with the highest count WL.

I have no desire to read either of those books and if I did I can get them from work (library).

SO I might just make someones christmas alittle bright as books are always the best gift :)

One thing that has worked for me is looking on Amazon or a similar sight for the ISBNs of other editions of the popular title that are available or coming out in the future.  For example, if there is a hardback (like the Nikki Sixx book) that you would like, try to determine when the trade or mass market paper back editions are coming out and add those ISBNs to your wish list.

Similarly, if there is a book by an author that I like that is coming out soon I will try to get the ISBN from Amazon's pre-orders section so I can be early in line for that book once it hits PBS.

Doh.... maybe I should not give away all my secrets!  ;-)

Where do you find the Top 50?

Thanks,

slightly off topic----Never realized Nikki had a book out.  Maybe I should have my dad ask Nikki's father-in-law (or is it ex-FIL) if he's got any copies, or could maybe get some!!  (I still can't get over the fact that my dad knows his FIL, or that my dad even knows the name Nikki Sixx

now, back to the topic.......I've been #87 for a year now for a book

I think Water for Elephants has like 1200 people on it for paperback and over 500 for hardback.  I've seen this book at Walmart a bunch of times.  Next time I got to Half-price books I'll have to look and see if it's something I want to read.  In a year or 2 there'll be 300 copies available on PBS and people will be begging someone to order the book.

sorry this is a bit off-topic but speaking of Water for Elephants:

My friend recently gave me a copy that she had bought on a trip to London.  Since it was published in England (with permission by the U.S. publisher), it had a different ISBN number.  I am fairly sure it's the exact same book, as the all spellings were U.S.-centric, etc.   I had to post something in the Book Bazaar, because it sat on my bookshelf (with no wishlist indication) for awhile after I posted it.  Someone did ultimately take it.

It has a very low wishlist number right now, and I suspect if you want this book and get on the wishlist, you'll move up the list very soon - unless someone decides to keep it.

I have a book on my WL that I am 400-something out of 500-something of.  I don't really expect to get it, but what the heck.  If I want it bad enough, I know where the book store is.

I don't mind waiting on my WL books cause my TBR pile is sooooooooo high and I know if I get a WL book it'll just go to my TBR and sit. I had to buy HP #6 when it came out and I still haven't read it. Let alone #7.

Water For Elephants is probably one of the best books I've ever read! Not at all what I would have tried on my own. But thanks to PBS I got it and really enjoyed it!

I have been in the hundreds on WL books. I usually look for other versions to see if I can get on a lower waitlist. And sometimes try to add books that haven't been published yet so I can get in on the ground floor so to speak.

I have a bunch of books on my WL that aren't published yet.  They are by favorite authors and I know I'll want to read them.  I know when they get released the lists will grow even longer.  Plus with the new WL pts system coming out, I'll have built some time with them.

there is a round dot with and exclamation point in it in the listing for each book on your list, hold your mouse over it and it will show you . My wish list listing for the Heroin diaries now says 31 of 170
