Hello.  I just joined this site last week.  Right away four of my ten posted books were put on "hold" by people.  Within 48 hours two of them  were taken (I don't know how you say it here, sold? swapped?), but two were put back on hold.  What does this mean?  Why are they on hold?  Does that mean no one else can get them?  Thanks.  Kathy

It means they are on Wish List hold.

And wish list hold means that those books were on people's wish lists here on the site.  When you posted the books, they were offered to the first people on the list.  It sounds like a couple of yours were accepted by the first people on the list and a couple more moved on to the next person on the wishlist.  Congratulations!  It sounds like you should have a few credits coming your way soon!

Right - they weren't actively put on 'hold' by the wishers - they were put on hold by paperbackswap, until the people who have your books on their wish lists log in and get a chance to say whether they want your copy or not.

And, welcome to the club!

I did enjoy looking at the 4 books that I found on your bookshelf. I bet the homeschool books go pretty fast. (I am not currently homeschooling, but have.)

Thanks everyone for your replies.  What I still don't understand is, if it is on hold, does that mean no one else can get it?  I just wonder if my books are being held up by the holds.  Thanks.

when you place yourself on a wish list for a particular book, you place yourself in line for that book.  when someone posts it, you receive a notification that your wish has been granted (when you are number one) and then you have 48 hours to sign in and accept or decline.

what is happening for you...you posted books for which someone else is wishing.  at this time, no one else can request those books except for the number one person on the wishlist.  if they do not respond in 48 hours, or if they say they do not want the book, the book either is offered to the second person on the wishlist, or offered into the general community if there are no more people wishing for it.

so...your books ARE being held up by the holds, but that is only because people have been waiting for them for a while.  some people are more active during the week for whatever reason, so you may not see that the books are ordered until tomorrow.

welcome to paperbackswap!  :)

Okay, I get it.  Sorry for my confusion!
