I just noticed in the details of one the books enroute to me, June 26th- arrival Sterling Heights then hours later -Notice Left- Sterling  Heights. What does that mean? I live in a house and didn't receive any notice in my mailbox.

we'd all be really just guessing, if it were me I'd contact the post office.  perhaps they left the notice at the wrong house.

The 26th was only Saturday. If it is not delivered in today's mail, I'd definitely call the Post Office and ask if they have the package and are not delivering it for some reason. It may be postage due.

Thanks everyone, the book was delivered today. I never saw any notice, so don't know what that was about. The book was sent with PBS postage and D/C and the bar code was wrinkled and mostly likely made it difficult to scan. Anyway, I got the book and in fine condition with no extra postage due.

they probably just hit the wrong imput or button or whatever they do when they scan books.  I had a book I sent for a game so I had to use DC.  It was taking forever and the last book still out there. So I checked the DC and it showed a scan of Return To Sender (or some variation of that).  It was delivered just fine the next day or so.   So I'm just assuming that someone scanned it by hand and hit a wrong button or setting or something.

I once got online to check for a package and it said that a notice had been left in my PO Box.  Nope, no notice.  I had to go to the counter and ask.  I wouldn't have known it except that package had a DC on it.  I wonder if some things are just logged in wrong on the PO computers from time to time. I have debated more and more about adding the usage of DC on my packages out.

I buy a lot from ebay also. I looked and saw I had  a package all our mail goes to a PO Box. They said no no package, hubby came home called the other post office where the mail comes from. no no package, he goes back to our post office, they had never taken it out of the mail bag when they had gotten the mail !! So its very good to have tracking info.

This just happened to me.  It was a Saturday.  I went to the PO on Monday after work to find out that it was out for redelivery.  They couldn't explain why the carrier didn't leave a notice in my mailbox, though he was a sub - so maybe he thought he did??

I agree, call the PO.
