Here are the PMs between the two of us, the ONLY PMs between us.  I told her I would buddy her a credit even though she never requested a free book.  I'm trying to do the right thing, but I don't think I should buddy her a credit until she marks the books received either with or without a problem.  I'm even willing to let the PBS people suggest a solution other than the one I came up with.  Should I contact them?

Deborah

Thanks so much for ordering this book from me. To help with postage, if you order ONE ADDITIONAL book from me, you can choose a third book for FREE.

If you’re interested in this deal, order one more book, then PM me the titles of your three books, 2 ordered and 1 freebie. Watch my shelf grow by listing me as a buddy. I closed my used book store and still have about 50 boxes of 40-50 books to load. I try to list at least 100 additional books every week.

If I don't hear from you by 8:00p.m. Friday, I will wrap and mail your book.

Thanks bunches,
Deborah

Deborah:

I received three books I ordered using credits, but did not receive the "Miss Julia" book by Ross that I requested as my free book pursuant to your offer. I sent you a message requesting the free book attached to the order, but perhaps you did not receive it. I am going on vacation for a week next Monday, so could you confirm that you received this message, but mail me the free book next Thursday or Friday.

Thanks, Carla

Hello again Carla,

I save every PM that is sent to me, and I'm not seeing that you ever sent me a message regarding a free book until now. I will be willing to buddy a credit back to you, but since you did not PM me, I will not be sending out an extra book. PM me if this will be OK, otherwise, we can both contact PBS to find out what happened to your PM requesting a free book and why you haven't marked the books you got as received.

Thanks bunches,
Deborah

In my order for your books, I clicked on the "personal message" or "send message" (I can't remember which) tab on the order page and asked you to send me the Miss Julia book, before I sent my request. I went to a lot of trouble scanning through your collection to find at least two books that I wanted and I ended up ordering three. I thought I was helping you. Apparently, you are still a retail business, rather than a retired bookseller as your original e-mail suggested. Had I known this, I would not have ordered from you. You prefer to question someone's honesty rather than live up to your promise.

The books you did send apparently arrived late yesterday. We were out for the evening and I picked them up from our mailbox last very late last night. I intend to mark them received as soon as we get this matter settled. If that is not possible, I will return them to you.

I think she should mark them either received or RWAP.  She's acknowledged that she's received the books, so if she doesn't mark them received, that's on her.  The powers that be can see whether or not she sent the PM requesting the free book.  Let them figure it out.

Just find it strange that she chooses to think that because you did not recieve her PM that you are still a retail used book seller. *shrugs*  I would forward this to TPTB so they can see it.  I think it fair to return her one credit so she still would be getting the 3 for 2 deal. She stated that she found 3 books she wanted instead of just 2 more.

It is possible she wrote out the PM and then did not click the "are you sure you want to send this" prompt or clicked some other button and it did not send.

Its no excuse for not marking the books received or even RWAP if she has an issue.

I agree, only I would wait until she marks them received.

If she doesn't mark them received they will go lost and then TPTB will check into it.    I would let her know that I'd take no more action until she has marked the books recievied.

Ditto what everyone else said.  The original deal was 3 for 2 and she got 3 but "overpaid".  I'd refund one credit but I'd also tell her I was not going to do that until the books are marked received.  If she does not want to do that I'd give her two choices, return all the books at her cost (and you refund all the credits) or, turn it over to TPTB when the books go lost.

Did you use PBS postage or DC?  If so, you've already gotten your credits and won't lose them.

And that brings up another point... If you didn't use PBS postage or DC, you don't get the credits until she makes them received.  If that's the case then I would explain to her that you cannot refund the one credit until you actually get it from the system when she marks it received.

Have her go into her Personal Messages and copy and paste the message to you where she requested those three books.

Also, she does need to mark them as received if she did indeed receive them. If she can find that message saying that she had ordered that other book I'd either send her that book or send her the credit to make up for the error.

She needs to mark these received and she cannot mark them RWP - there is no official problem.

If she did PM you, one of you should be able to retrieve it. If she still has it in her PM history, she should go to it and post another reply to it. That will forward the PM with its original date stamp to you to prove she did PM you. Otherwise either of you can go to your Club Communications and look for a PM around that time.  Communications are saved for 30 days there regardless of what you do with you PM archive. She may find that she PMed the wrong person, you may find a PM that you didn't see.

Since she did order 3 books from you and you had offered a 3 for 2, once the books were marked received you could jsut complete the order by giving her a credit back stating that the point of the deal was to save on postage so you'd rather not send another book out.

I have to agree - you can't do anything until she marks them received.  From what I've read it looks like you must have gotten yourcredits - otherwise why would she be asking for any back (I know PBS takes them from you to hold in "escrow" until the deal is marked received if no PBS DC is used) now?  And no one can just say "I got them" and be believed unless they mark them received.  So - archive all the posts - keep them going on the original PM so you can forward them to PBS.  PBS can look to see what PM's have been sent (and received) on our Account without us sending them the copies.  I don't see that you have a real solid option until she does 1) mark them received, 2) send you a copy of the one with the freebie order - if it exists, or it goes "lost".  For a swap to work - both sides must cooperate.  Good luck - stand your ground.

The receiver is being very accusatory and hostile in her later posts.  I would suspect that she "forgot" to send her PM and is now trying to bully a book out of the OP.  [OP - How many books did she actually order - did she pick them out one by one, or did she "order more from member" kinda thing.]  I find it strange that she wants the book, but not the credit, especially as it was "so hard" to find three books off of your list.

Since you are not "giving her what she wants", she has turned to insults in the attempt to bully.

I'm still horribly confused as to why she did not take you up on the offer of the credit.  It doesn't make much sense to me.  You've offered a perfectly acceptable compromise.

I'm with whoever said she should be able to find this inbox she claims to have sent you in her own account.  It should be under her sent messages tab.  Ask her to please forward that to you & tell her that as soon as you get it  and she marks her books received, you'll refund 1 credit.  And if I were you, I'd go ahead and contact PBS and let them know what's going on with this now.  Include the inbox correspondence with it.  It sounds to me like she's saying that she's not going to mark this received until she gets another book out of you, and if you don't do that, she'll just send what she has back.  I'd let PBS deal with her.
