Seems like I'm having a lot.  And, way too many of them argue the condition.

Yesterday I had a real jerk ...insisted the cover tear she repaired was less than 1" & I must have torn it more & repaired before taking pic.  It was an easy 2".   This from the same person who whose post office paid strip is dated 6 days after they said they shipped.

btw:  I calculated & I've had problems with 4% of my requests.  22 out of 525 approx.  Is that a lot, and do you sometimes just let them go without reporting?

If you revese it than it's a 96% success rate which seems pretty good.  Plus I bet most of those books were still readable so you can at least read them.  Also I bet you got at least some of your credits back so you aren't really out anything on those.

I've had maybe 15 or 20 rwp out of around  800. I don't RWP books that are borderline or where it's something that could have been easily missed. If it's obviously unpostable than I RWP. None of were so bad that I couldn't still read them at least and I got my credit back on all but a couple.

I think it depends on what you order. Most of the books I get come through my wish list, and they're primarily new releases, so I'm usually one of the first 5 people to read the books I get here. Sometimes I find a new-to-me author, and come here to collect the back list. Those tend to be older books.

My incoming stats:

817 good trans

1 USPS damaged

3 sender damaged

7 lost in mail

47 canceled by sender (no response, or "don't have the book any more" or something like that)

My stats for books received aren't as good as that. I have 14 RWAPs out of 189 transactions — and I'm not that picky, I promise! Once I got a book in four pieces - others have been water damaged — one was destroyed by postal equipment — but most of them have writing in them. I get this because I order lots of textbook-type books. I've also had 3 incoming books lost in the mail.

I used to not even mark the RWAP, so really the statistics are worse than they appear. One book I got was hardly usable—writing on every page, all the exercises in the book completed — and I still didn't RWAP it. I've only requested a credit back once or twice.

Still worth it, though — I've gotten some gems!

My RWAP/damaged by sender rate is <4%. Out of 465 books. Not bad.

22 RWAP out of 850ish.  The percentage is much higher in the classics (or other classroom usage) than any other genre I read.

Out of 400+ received, I think I've had only 3 unpostables - one just last week!

I've received 328 books via PBS, well, lots more if you count game books.  I know at least 1 was unpostable but that's all that comes to mind.  I think the other book I RWAP was just for an incorrect ISBN but the book condition itself was fine.

289 books received, and only one RWAP, which was the wrong book sent.  There was one with a few water damaged pages, but I didn't notice until a few months after the transaction.

314 mailed and no RWAP against me.

Before I put in my RC 4 out of 10 books received were unpostable. I think it was new members who hadn't discovered the help pages.

Covers with 3" tears. Ink scribbles on story pages. Hi-lighted passages (and no approval to send) Seperated bindings.

Since putting in the RC over a year ago, I have only recieved one unpostable. Multiple pages torn more than 1", She probably eye-balled it and said "That's under an inch". I however was mad and got out the ruler. They were 1 1/8".  Close enough to the guidelines I didn't want to kick up a fuss.

Some of my WL are declined, it may take a lttle longer to recieve some of my books. But as long as I'm not recieving a pile of unpostables I'm happy

I don't think I've rwapped anything in the last 2 or 3 years.  I've been receiving a run of new or like-new books.  Guess I'm the other side of Penny's coin right now.

Over the past 7+ years I have received 1706 books...2 were RWAPed for unpostability (condition of book) and 2 were RWAPed for being the wrong book. (I had requested a hardcover with a specific ISBN and got a paperback copy with a totally different ISBN of the title.) Also had 4 that were damaged by USPS, and two of those were for very poor wrapping. That's it. I have so few problems that I'm always totally surprised when it happens...I'm sure it's been at least 2-3 years since the last one.
