Just wondering what everyone read this year. That was memorable? My usual genre is horror, but since I joined in January I have tried several different horror authors and discovered entire different genres that I had always snubbed before. I have read: Drop City by T.C. Boyles (great book about a group of hippies who move to Alaska to live off the land, LOL), The five people you meet in Heaven, I know this much is true by Wally Lamb. a fast paced series by John Saul, The Collection by Bentley Little, Four Dark Nights , Ordered all of Anne Rice in Hard Cover, although I have already read them all. The Christ Clone Triolgy (religous fiction/sci-fi). Hundreds more. Just wondering what everyone else's memorable books were? ~ Peace, Shanna |

Very eclectic year for me, shanna. BONK, The Curious Coupling of Science ane Sex by Mary Roach is the book I just finished. Informative AND laugh out loud funny. Other non-fiction books I read and looooved this year were: In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan, Last Child in the Woods, An Alchemy of Mind by Diane Ackerman, The Intention Experiment by Lynne Taggart, BAD or the Dumbing of America by Paul Fussell, One Year Off. Re-read and did not love half as much as 10 years ago, The Celestine Prophecy. Didn't read very many novels this year but the ones I recall enjoying were: The Friday Night Knitting Club, and A Place to Fall by Roger Director. Oh, and I reread Catch-22 and always enjoy that. There's a list of pleasant-but-forgettable books I read this year too. I even forget some of the titles, but the ones I remember reading were: Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich, something by Sophie Kinsella but I don't know what, Cybill Disobedience by Cybill Shepherd, one of those between-the-numbers books by Janet Evanovich.

I started out the year reading Ice Bound: A Doctor's Incredible Battle for Survival at the South Pole by Dr. Jerri Nielsen. It was a very inspiring book about a woman with breast cancer at the South Pole. I gave the book to my sister who had breast cancer and she also loved it. You laugh and cry while reading this book. I ordered another copy to keep and reread.
