I didn't see a new one up for this week, so what are you reading?

I am currently reading Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas... I really can't give a good opinion on it until I finish it...

I hadn't posted in last week's thread at all, so I also read in the past week:

Bitter Sweets by G. A. McKevett- this is the second book in the Savannah Ried series (Cozy mystery) and I thought it was great. I love her Granny!

Murder of a Small-Town Honey by Denise Swanson- the first book in the Scumble River series (another Cozy Mystery) and I have to say that I wasn't at all impressed by it and even though I have the next three books in the series, I will not be continuing on with it. They're supposed to be kinda upbeat or have humor in them and I didn't really see any...maybe I just didn't get the jokes.

Next up will either be Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas or Carrot Cake Murder by Joanne Fluke, it all depends on if my MIL is finished with the Joanne Fluke before I finish Sugar Daddy:)

Started Harbor Nights and put it down.  Boring.  I wanted to read First Kiss, but I got it from the library, the book is so  filthy I can't stand to touch it.  So, finally, I started Dear Prince Charming by Donna Kauffman, and I'm liking it so far.

I just finished Fallen by Erin McCarthy last night.  (My bookstore didn't realize the street date release was 4/29, lol).  It was dark, but I absolutely loved it!  The climax was a bit out of left field, but I'll forgive that just to reread the piano scene over about 5 times - it was very sensual and captivating. :o)

I'm honestly not sure where to go from here though, I have too much to read!

I read The Crossroads Cafe by Deborah Smith. I wasn't sure if I'd like it because it's written in 1st person but I gave it a shot and thought it was good. It switches back and forth between  being told from H & h's points of view. Both have "issues". He lost his wife and son in 9/11 and she grew up with her life revolving around her beauty and ends up disfigured in an accident. It was good but definitely an emotional read.

Eileen  - what exactly is the definition of a cozy mystery?

I finished reading Simon Says by Lori Foster this morning.  It's the 2nd in her SBC FIghters series.  I really liked it! It's really cool how she builds up the sexual tension but the book is not chock full of sex scenes.   I've read that one and the 3rd one Hard to Handle.  Now I've got to read the first one - Causing Havoc.  But probably no reading tonight - I've got some work to do.

I did though finally go to the library and get a new card.  So we'll have to see how good my library's romance section is now!

I finished 'A Burning Obsession' by Susan Kearney this morning before sleeping(a Blaze title from a while back..2004 I think) It was a really good one. Turns out I could've read it without reading the previous story-Bordering on Obsession. that friend and her new hubby were mentioned and you get the fact that the woman in this story wants her script produced but this book is part of her Heroes series I think it said. There was sex and mystery both in this one and it was one of the older/longer Blazes. I have over 2 huge containers of Blaze titles and I 'm gonna have to go through and put them in order and see what I have/don't have 'cause a lot of these are good quick sexy reads, esp the older ones. I've had a couple that weren't all that good but some were really good IMO.

Didn't read any more in 'how to succeed in murder' though it's a good book too. I'll probably try to remember to take it to work with me tomorrow night and hope I don't get too tired and we aren't too busy to do some reading. I've debated asking to stay on nights..I hate rotating shifts and I can get more reading done at night and no boss around!  also wanting to read Stripped Bare by Lena Matthews but that's most like a read at home erotica read...sorta learned my lesson trying to read 'dangerous games' at work..luckily I didnt' get to the really hot hot scene til I got home...but that was a close one!

Eileen that's a bummer about the swanson series..I've also collected several of those to read.maybe I'll take the others off my wishlist...need to go through it and take stuff off anyways..overlooked something and it came up and I had to decline today :-( guess I removed the other editions but overlooked that one. I have some of those other books too but haven't started them yet.

I finished Jennie in a Bottle and I liked it. I need a break from romance, so I am going to read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. It's not my typical type of read, but a friend loaned it to me.

I started on Simply Love by Catherine Anderson.  I got to the part where the herione finds hero's sex toys.  I burst out laughing. Who would have thought that they had anything like that back then.

Susan, Cozy Mysteries usually are mysteries that can be light hearted, with a theme throughout them... like Joanna Fluke's Hannah Swenson Series...she owns a cookie shop. There's the Chocoholic seroes by JoAnna Carl, they have a gourmet chocolate shop... and most of the ones I've read have a female lead with a developing relationship throughout the series. I enjoy them, but still love my romaces as well:)

I'm still reading A Hero's Redemption by Suzanne McMinn.  Its a pretty good twist on a time travel romance as the hero only goes back a few years to the heroine's time.  He was convicted of her death in his time but doesn't remember killing her.  Now he has a 2nd chance to save her.

I finished up Night of the Huntress by Kathryn Smith.  I thought it was good.

I started Dancing With Werewolves: Delilah Street, Paranormal Investigator by Carole Nelson Douglas this morning.  It's for a swap and I was iffy on reading it because it's in first person and I really don't like first person narrative.  So far I'm liking it. There is a lot of humor and pop culture references. The action hasn't really started yet so  I'll see how that goes.

I started in on Drop Dead Gorgeous by Kimberly Raye (an April Blaze title).  I read the first one in this series and had to get this one too.  A former nerd turned into a hunky vampire.

I finished Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas and I have to say that I liked it, but am not quite ready to jump into Blue-Eyed Devil. So I broke down and decided to give Denise Swanson a 2nd chance and am reading Murder of a Sweet Old Lady, the 2nd in the series, but if this isn't much better, I'm definitely done:)

For some reason I picked up Nauti Boy by Lora Leigh instead of doing the work I really needed to do - and I'm almost finished with it.  I haven't yet decided how I feel about it.  It is a bit weird that the H/H are step-siblings.  And then you throw in the 4-some aspects with the 2 male cousins and I really don't know what to think.  I mean - the 3 men like to pleasure their women together but it seems as if they don't do anything to each other - and I guess I find that hard to believe.  It's definitely hot as hell but I think I prefer her Breeds series and the Seal series.

For my paranormal I'm reading Changeling by Yasmine Galenorn, the second of a series i'm *really* enjoying. I'm also reading Lord Perfect by Loretta Chase, from the Carsington series that I ADORE. It's also on the AAR list, yay. I also started (I know, I'm crazy) The Golden Touch by Robin James (aka Laura London, aka Sharon & Tom Curtis) that I got from an amazing swapper here ;) I had no idea it was the "London" people, I just got it since Candy from Smart Bitchestalked about it, and it had a DIK review on AAR. All the books are short but wonderful, I'm having a lot of fun switching between the three of them!

I read the Alyssa Day story in the Shifter anthology and really enjoyed it! This was about Marie, the First Maiden and her relationship with Ethan, the alpha of the pride in Florida.  I really enjoy her world and cannot wait for the next full length Warriors of Poseidon book.

I am still reading The Pirate Prince.  It's taking me forever because life has suddenly gotten crazy - and throw in a litter of tiny kittens that we're bottle feeding and....well, I just haven't had time to read.  It really stinks.  I can't wait till life gets back to normal.  I am suffering serious withdrawl.

I am reading Mischief by Amanda Quick.  It has been awhile and I needed something that I knew would be good after the Dark Hunters.  I wanted it to grab me and I knew that it would.  I love her books no matter who she writes them as.  :)   I am almost done with it and I am not sure what I will read next.  I have a couple more of her books and i might just keep it up.
