Well, I finished 'The Ranger' by Carol Finch before bed last night. I looked her up on Romantic Times to see what else she'd written(when I was about 3/4 through) and was surprised they only gave this book 2 stars..I thought it was good! Sorta silly-ish expressions like 'peered owlishly' , etc but I liked it enough to read more by her.

At work this morning and brought, as usual, a huge selection! I read a few more pages in 'The Chosen'(non romance) but I'm feeling more in the mood for romance or something else though who knows I might go ahead and finish this one up. I have 'on the loose' by tara janzen, a harlequin duet by Carol Finch, Fool  Moon by Jim Butcher, Stand by Your M an, by Nancy Bartholomew..hmm..guess it's gonna be between The Chosen and Fool Moon and Fool Moon might be calling me pretty loudly by the time lunchtime gets here!

Karen, I'm on the 4th Anne Stuart book a nd want it ifnished so I can get to Reno's story..he's a bit out there though but I"m having trouble getting into Isobel's story.anyone read 'ice storm' and can tell me it's good??

Sarah, I have Naked in Death somewhere in Mt TBR..I'm just afraid I'll like it and end up ordering all 25 or so books.I have about 6 scatterd though the series already. I wonder how these are on audio? I have some of the stephanie plum abridged cassettes and they narrator? or whatever the reader is called is funny. same with some other books on tape/cd.

Mary, how do you do those mp3 downloads? I pulled out my mp3 creative zen or something like that that I've had a while and never used :-( and am wanting to put some on it so I can listen to them in the car when traveling to work and to visit my parents, etc. do you have something to play them through your car speakers or do you just listen to them regular with an earpiece or whatever? my library also has some audiodownloads that can be 'checked out'..some can be burned to cd and others are mp3 only.

I finished Fire and Ice -- I can hold it for you, Susanna, if you'd like.  Reno turns out to be a cool guy, though I had my doubts about him.  It was not her best of the Ices, for sure.  I was annoyed with her because it wasn't up to what I feel is her level of writing.  But I stayed up till way late to finish it!   Even with those shortcomings, I enjoyed it.  He does keep repeating one phase that made me want to stomp my foot.

I don't have anything I want to start reading now, dang it.

I just finished Hotel Transylvania...it was a good, quick read (very violent though.) I'll wait a little bit to see if I feel like continuing with the rest of the series.

In my attempt to start widdling my TBR pile, I started Because You're Mine by Kleypas. Going good so far...

Just finished Irresistible by Susan Mallery - liked it better than Delicious... Reading Morning Light by Catherine Anderson off and on and also on a Diana Palmer jag..... - just needed some quick predictable romances to fill in the gap.

Thanks Karen but I already have it in mt tbr..just want to read them in order and stuck on 'ice storm' LOL...mostly been goofing off online at work today between samples because trying to read 'the chosen' and it's sorta 'deep' in  places and too many distractions(like work!). sure glad I  held off on the jim butcher book 'cause I'd really be getting ticked off if I had to keep putting that one down and being distracted!

I'm working on Dangerous Games by Lora Leigh.  I don't remember when I started it, probably last weekend.  Just haven't had the time or interest to read anything lately.  It's moving right along today though.

Sarah, I LOVED Dangerous Games. I used it in a swap several months ago, and I wish now that I had kept it. I love that series by Lora Leigh.

Sarah, you oughta be getting interested pretty quick in Dangerous Games! It sure as heck woke ME up! hmm..think Ineed to read hiddena agendas and killer secrets...for some reason they're still in my TBR pile..think I was fried after the 2 shorter stories and dangerous games!

well, I'm a little over 2/3 done with 'the chosen' the 1st book in my 'classics challenge' I'm doing for myself..it's a good book but too much to think about. I'm thinking I mgiht stay awake and finish it before bed but not sure...

I'm reading A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray, I got it months ago in the historical romance section of a used bookstore and had no idea it was actually a YA novel. It is FANTASTIC though, and the writing level is perfect for adults. I was lucky enough to find the 2nd one in the series at the same UBS, hopefully by the time I read that one the third will be in paperback. :)

The Rachel Vincent book is still awesome, I'm glad I have "Rogue" in my TBR and Vincent's blog says she's working on the 4th right now, woot!

I'm also reading bits of Kimberly Raye's Dead End Dating when I get the chance, it's a fun little light read and a nice counter-balance to the darkness of "Beauty" and the darkness/violence in "Stray".

I read Harmony's Way by Lora Leigh last night.  I liked it - it was a typical breed story.  I did enjoy reading about Jonas and I really, REALLY want to see his story told.  I was at Lora Leigh's website but didn't see anything listed upcoming for Jonas.  And Dane - I had read Dawn's Awakening and liked what I saw of Dane and definitely want to know more so it was good to go back and read some history on him in Harmony's Way.

I am also reading Captives of the Night by Loretta Chase.  It's different from the others I've read from her in that it's less humorous but I like that the hero is from Albania.  Lots of intensity between the H/H though.

I've finished Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost and really liked it, as well as Shattered Rainbows by Mary Jo Putney--very good read-- and now I'm half way through Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye by Victoria Laurie, which is good as well.

I finished Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank yesterday and started Lover Enshrined by J. R. Ward today.  This one will most likely take me all week and maybe into next week.   Pauline

I am still reading the same books I have been reading for a week or so. Fallen by Erin McCarthy (just am not sure about this book. Definitely different then her fun vampire books), Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase (this one is actually new that I started yesterday), Must Love Dragons by Stephanie Rowe (really like this book...its just a fun read as was the first in the series), and Love is Blind by Lynsay Sands.

I've been trying to get into a book for a week now. I should have finished it in 2 days tops, but for the life of me I can't get into it. It's One for the Money.  A friend gave me the first 6 books in the series. She loves the series and tells me to just keep giving it a try but I just can't get into it. So last night started Charming the Highlander by Janet Chapman. I'm only on chapter 4 but I'm enjoying it so far.

So should I try One for the Money again at a later date? Is this a series you would recommend?

Victoria Laurie is a favorite of mine..I read all the psychic eye books and her 2 ghostbusters and liked them all.

Lesley, it took me 3-4 tries to get in to the stephanie plum books but once I did I was hooked. The first one bothered meI think becuase of all the silliness along with the violence/stuff happening in it (ok not much but not what I was used to). If  I can read them as silly nutty reads I enjoyed them a lot more if that makes sense. she never improves as a bounty hunter and then evanovich has her torn between 2 guys from like book 4 or so..that bothers some people and the romance isn't emphasized but it's there..doesn't bother me 'cause I want her with Ranger LOL and I think the 'polls' on her website has it roughly 50/50 so now she's stuck not being able to pair her off or anything! I got the abridged books on tape from I think Mary (4-6) and they're hilarious to listen to. I listened to al 3 on the 4 hour trip to my mom's and part of the way back..the woman reader had the perfect accent.

ok, off to the bookstore(like Ineed to go there LOL) then weight watchers and maybe library. I'm wanting to get my mp3 player out and figure otu how to download some books on there so I can use it while walking, driving, etc. any suggestions for funny/good books with good readers? I'm thinking jennifer cruisie and janet evanovich and there are several kids books I'd like to have if I can find them.

Christina, glad to hear Dark Needs at Night's Edge was so good!  i've definitely been enjoying the series so far, and just got that one last week.

Leslie, i'm about the same way on the Stephanie Plum books.  my mom loves the series, so i read One for the Money a while ago, and just didn't care enough to borrow the next one.  now i can't even remember it.

last night i started The Host by Stephenie Meyer.  i'm only about 90 pages in, but it's good so far!
