Finished Brenda Novak's Home to Whiskey Creek and I must say I loved Addie and Noah's story. She handled the situation well, IMO. You don't have to read the other books in the series in order to read this one. There is of course references to other stories, but I don't think you will be lost. 4.5 stars. I do wonder if she is going to write Baxter's story ala JR Ward. Not sure what romance I am going to read next, I have several books coming between my Amazon order and a half order coming, we are talking 12 books and I want to read them all right now.

I read The Unwanted Wife by Natasha Anders. Apart from some repetitive conversations between the H and h, it was actually very good. Worth the 99 cents for sure.

I also read Fear, Hope, and Bread Pudding by Marie Sexton. Love, love, love this whole series, and this was no exception.

That was a fun one, Melissa.

I have to finish a review book that is just not floating my boat. Sigh.

finished Back to School Murder by Leslie Meier and Dark Challenge by Christine Feehan. decided to return the Shades of Grey trilogy to library way early...just didn't think I could get into them and i have so many books I want to read that I decided not to waste my time unless someone here says they're worth it. still listening to Bite Me If You Can by Lynsay Sands. funny and entertaining while driving. not too far into it so will probably last a while driving back and forth to work unless I run some errands or listen at home (unlikely). trying to decide which ebook to start next...

Reading some non-fiction this week.  Can't seem to get into any romances.

I haven't checked in for quite awhile.  I've been reading, but guess I have not been that excited about most of it.  Seems like all of my favorite authors have jumped on that small-town romance series bandwagon, and I'm finally beginning to find it tiresome.  Geez, I recently read the latest in the Shalvis Lucky Harbor series, and it made mention of a B&B that I would have sworn on my firstborn's life was in the Toni Blake series.  Whoops.  Too many damn series to keep straight apparently- time for me to find a new genre I guess.

Anyway, I did finally give KA a try and am now on the 4th Rock Chick book.  I have enjoyed these, because while I generally am not into romantic suspense books, there is only just a teeny bit of suspense in these and I can handle that.  Now that I'm a few books in I am starting to see that they are rather formulatic, but at least at this point I'm willing to forgive that.  I just hope there aren't any more whiney heroines like Jet- I swear if I have to abide another pouty foot-stomper, I don't know if I can finish the series.

Lesley: Jet was my least favorite Rock Chick. I thought her self esteem issues were majorly annoying.

i finished the 'Burg series and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait for Benny and Frankie's story. Now I'm really trying to get through Dark Cravings but it just isn't doing much for me. I think it's my mood and not the book, at least I hope so. Maybe I'll try to find another one in my 30 something books on my Kindle 😊.

STella was my least fave though I have to say after re-reading through Eddie and Jet's story she got on my nerves a lot more and Stella less...might've just been my mood!

ended up starting another mystery in Leslie Meier's series - so far she's stretched out the years between mysteries(on the 4th or 5th one now I think) book one she had 3 kids and book 2 she was having a baby then the baby was 2 and now 4..she has a lot of books so either she's a grandma solving mysteries or she starts doing more solving!

also have a YA biography I'm wanting to read as well as leaning towards a few more books I've purchased - slowed down a bit with the library borrowing though I have to admit I've done better than I thought I would! was starting to feel pressured to read so I returned 3 and finshed 2 and have 2 left I think including robyn carr's latest - didnt like the first enough to purchase and if I don't get into this 2nd one I'll return it early.

eta: still haven't gotten to the new rockchick book - haven't been in the mood yet and too distracted- usually I get very mad when I'm interrupted reading one of KA's books and night shift isn't a good time LOL!

Finished Delilah Marvelle's Romancing Lady Stone her new novella coming out tomorrow. Wonderful read and my review is up on GRs if you want to take a look. Leslie I agree that there seem to be many authors stuck on the small town bandwagon. I just read Brenda Novak's latest Whiskey Creek addition, but I really liked it. I have also started a Stephanie Laurens and a Grace Burrowes...too many books too little time.

Keri, I had looked at that Brenda Novak series awhile back but thought I couldn't handle another of that genre.  Maybe will put that on my RL for later.

I was planning on reading Shooting Stars (The Artists Trilogy) by Karina Halle as soon as it hit my kindle. But I'm in the middle of my first m/m romance, Promises by Marie Sexton, and am pleasantly surprised by how much I like it, so I think I'm going to finish that first.

Well to be fair Leslie, I didn't like the first book of the series, but it has progressively got better, but it does have a Peyton Place feel to it with the amount of drama that Whiskey Creek has, but then again so did Carr's latest Thunder Point book that I also just read. But Novak's has a harder emotional edge with the issues she puts forth and she doesn't use humor to carry scenes like Carr sometimes does and Shalvis does all the time. But I like all 3 series for different reasons. Carr's TP series though still doesn't compete with VR...at least the first 5 books, then when Vanni got involved fahgettaboutit. :-) I just love whatever Shalvis writes and I never get tired of reading about the sexy men's of Lucky Harbor...I could sit and stare at Jax, Sawyer and Ford all day long.

I powered through The Darkest Craving and it turned out to be okay. After starting at least 6 books I've landed on This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas.

Keri, I have liked the Thunder point books ok so far, but agree they are not up to VR standards.  I read the 2nd one recently and it had almost more of a WF feel than romance, with all those different storylines and relationships going on.

I read Screaming in the Silence by Lydia Kelly and like it a lot. Not for everyone though....kidnapping, non-consensual and such.  It was very good.

Now reading Shooting Scars....gotta get my Javier fix, I think.

Lsressler, Promises is freakin' awesome. It was my mom's first m/m book too. I had to make her read it, then she loved it too!

Leslie I agree with that.  I even mentioned that in my short review of the second one.

I had planned to just start it to waste some time until Shooting Stars was released. I didn't want to get caught up in anything and wasn't expecting to finish it, but I really liked it. Finished it yesterday and started Shooting Stars today. I picked up Promises when it was free, in fact I think I found it from one of your posts. So thanks for introducing me to m/m as well.
