Hey All,

I recieved a book in the mail that I did not order.  I am sure that it was an honest mistake.  What should I do in this situation and how can I correct it?

Thanks,

Alissa

Mark the Book RWAP (Received with a Problem)  Then you can hit wrong book as an option for the problem.  I would also PM the person that you got it from to let them know. ( I got a wrong book before and the wrappers got put onto the wrong books.)

You DO NOT have to send it back.  If the person who sent it to you requests it back, or that you forward it, they should send you a credit to cover postage costs.

Did the sender mix up your book with another book request they had going out?  Check your "books enroute to me" tab and see where books are coming from to see if you can match up the return address.  If you can figure out who sent you the wrong book, PM them and let them know.

I would NOT mark the book coming from that sender as received since you did not receive the book.  Do not mark as received until you receive the correct book.

The rules say to contact the sender and not mark it received until you get the book you actually ordered.  They should send you a credit to cover postage and the address of the person who ordered the book.  When the book goes lost you'll get your credit back.  If you get the right book either from the person they sent it to by mistake or the sender-you can mark it received in your transaction archive.

If they want the book back they should give you a credit to cover postage.

Most likely they mixed books up while sending orders out.  Both times that I've gotten the wrong book-the 2nd sheet had the other persons info and the top sheet had mine. So they mixed up lables.

I wouldn't mark as received with a problem.  PM the person first and if no response, let it go lost.  When this happened to me, I never got a response from the person who sent it.  I ended up having to repost it back in the system and it was finally ordered from my shelf 1 year later.  I had to reorder the original book I wanted.

PBS was never even able to resolve this problem for me.

Kathryn, Sara, Mary and Kimberly,

Thank you for all your help and advice.  I did pm the person that sent me the book and hopefully I will hear something back in a couple of days.  And, as i said in my origianl post, I'm sure that it was an honest mistake.   Things happen.

Things do happen and book mix-ups occur.  You shouldn't be out a credit for a book you didn't receive though.  Definitely let it go lost if you don't hear from the sender or they don't take steps to get you the book you ordered.
